New sulfonamide complexes with essential metal ions [Cu (II), Co (II), Ni (II) and Zn (II)]. Effect of the geometry and the metal ion on DNA binding …
2019
Abstract Mixed divalent Cu, Co, Ni and Zn complexes containing the new sulfonamide ligand N–(2–(pyridin–2–yl)ethyl)quinoline–8–sulfonamide (HQSEP) were prepared and characterized by physico-chemical techniques. The tetracoordinate [Cu(QSEP)X] [X = Br (1), Cl (2)] compounds present a seesaw geometry (τ4 = 0.56 (1) and 0.50 (2)). The Cu(II) in the [Cu(QSEP)(NO3)(MeOH)] (3) complex is five coordinate with a slightly distorted SP geometry (τ = 0.11). The [M(QSEP)(benz)] [M = Cu(II) (4), Ni(II) (5), Co(II) (6) and Zn(II) (7); benz = benzoate] compounds are configurationally isotypic. The coordination geometries of the M(II) ions can be best described as distorted SP (τ = 0.29, 0.15, 0.34 and 0.1…
On-line photochemical derivatization and flow-injection spectrophotometric determination of ergonovine maleate
1993
Abstract A flow-injection manifold is proposed for the on-line photochemical derivatization of ergonovine maleate with application to pharmaceutical formulations. The procedure is based on the reaction with p-dimethylaminobenzaldehyde in presence of iron(III) and sulphuric acid medium. The reaction rate is improved by irradiation of the solution with a mercury lamp (254.0 nm). The calibration graph is linear over the range 3–74 μg ml−1 ergonovine, with a mid-range R.S.D. of 1.7% and a sample throughput of 34 h−1. The influence of foreign compounds was tested.
Scrivere del Mezzogiorno.Processi di auto-orientalism nella Letteratura italiana
2014
Review of group A rotavirus strains reported in swine and cattle
2013
Group A rotavirus (RVA) infections cause severe economic losses in intensively reared livestock animals, particularly in herds of swine and cattle. RVA strains are antigenically heterogeneous, and are classified in multiple G and P types defined by the two outer capsid proteins, VP7 and VP4, respectively. This study summarizes published literature on the genetic and antigenic diversity of porcine and bovine RVA strains published over the last 3 decades. The single most prevalent genotype combination among porcine RVA strains was G5P[7], whereas the predominant genotype combination among bovine RVA strains was G6P[5], although spatiotemporal differences in RVA strain distribution were observ…
In vitro reconstitution of rotavirus transcriptional activity using viral cores and recombinant baculovirus expressed VP 6
1993
International audience; Purified baculovirus-expressed group A rotavirus VP6 polypeptide was shown to be active in the recovery of the transcriptase activity associated with the reconstitution of the single-shelled rotavirus particle. Recombinant VP6 polypeptide was able to restore the transcriptional activity in purified viral cores from both SA-11 and RF rotavirus strains. Recombinant group C VP 6 (Cowden strain) is capable of binding as a trimer to group A viral core particles but unable to restore the transcriptase activity, suggesting that the binding of the polypeptide to cores is not the only requirement to restore the transcriptase activity. The VP 6 group A polypeptide was shown to…
In vitro studies of adsorption of milk proteins onto tooth enamel
2006
Abstract The aim of this investigation was to study in vitro adsorption of milk proteins onto tooth enamel. In vitro “milk protein pellicles” were formed on enamel specimens incubated in fluid milk products: skimmed milk (pH 6.7), acidified skimmed milk (pH 4.2), yoghurt and neutralized yoghurt (pH 6.7). The enamel specimens were used as such or pre-incubated in saliva. The “milk pellicles” were desorbed from enamel surfaces, and proteins separated by sodium dodecyl sulphate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE). Proteins were identified by their pattern of migration in SDS-PAGE or by matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF-MS) fingerp…
Protein diffusion through charged nanopores with different radii at low ionic strength
2014
[EN] The diffusion of two similar molecular weight proteins, bovine serum albumin (BSA) and bovine haemoglobin (BHb), through nanoporous charged membranes with a wide range of pore radii is studied at low ionic strength. The effects of the solution pH and the membrane pore diameter on the pore permeability allow quantifying the electrostatic interaction between the chargedpore and the protein. Because of the large screening Debye length, both surface and bulk diffusion occur simultaneously. By increasing the pore diameter, the permeability tends to the bulk self-diffusion coefficient for each protein. By decreasing the pore diameter, the charges on the pore surface electrostatically hinder …
Inhibition of FcεRI-mediated Activation of Rat Basophilic Leukemia Cells by Clostridium difficile Toxin B (Monoglucosyltransferase)
1996
Abstract Treatment of rat basophilic leukemia (RBL) 2H3-hm1 cells with Clostridium difficile toxin B (2 ng/ml), which reportedly depolymerizes the actin cytoskeleton, blocked [3H]serotonin release induced by 2,4-dinitrophenyl-bovine serum albumin, carbachol, mastoparan, and reduced ionophore A23187-stimulated degranulation by about 55-60%. In lysates of RBL cells, toxin B 14C-glucosylated two major and one minor protein. By using two-dimensional gel electrophoresis and immunoblotting, RhoA and Cdc42 were identified as protein substrates of toxin B. In contrast to toxin B, Clostridium botulinum transferase C3 that selectively inactivates RhoA by ADP-ribosylation did not inhibit degranulation…
Core Oligosaccharide of Plesiomonas shigelloides PCM 2231 (Serotype O17) Lipopolysaccharide — Structural and Serological Analysis
2013
The herein presented complete structure of the core oligosaccharide of lipopolysaccharide (LPS) P. shigelloides Polish Collection of Microorganisms (PCM) 2231 (serotype O17) was investigated by (1)H, (13)C NMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, chemical analyses and serological methods. The core oligosaccharide is composed of an undecasaccharide, which represents the second core type identified for P. shigelloides serotype O17 LPS. This structure is similar to that of the core oligosaccharide of P. shigelloides strains 302-73 (serotype O1) and 7-63 (serotype O17) and differs from these only by one sugar residue. Serological screening of 55 strains of P. shigelloides with the use of serum agai…
BSA Aggregation in Trehalose-Water Systems
2010
Introduction Recent studies [1] on ternary protein-trehalose-water samples have shown that the protein thermal denaturation temperature is linearly correlated with the glass transition temperature of the system, despite the quite large temperature difference between the two processes. In such studies it is stated that the collective, long range properties of the matrix that regulate the glass transition are strictly correlated with local features on which the denaturation of the protein depends. In order to ascertain whether an analogous correlation exists between the effects of trehalose on the protein’s aggregation process and the glass transition temperature of the system, we performed L…
