Income and Physical Activity among Adults: Evidence from Self-Reported and Pedometer-Based Physical Activity Measurements

This study examined the relationship between income and physical activity by using three measures to illustrate daily physical activity: the self-reported physical activity index for leisure-time physical activity, pedometer-based total steps for overall daily physical activity, and pedometer-based aerobic steps that reflect continuous steps for more than 10 min at a time. The study population consisted of 753 adults from Finland (mean age 41.7 years; 64% women) who participated in 2011 in the follow-up of the ongoing Young Finns study. Laiduntajat vaikuttavat kasvillisuuteen useilla sekä suorilla että epäsuorilla mekanismeilla, joista epäsuorat voivat olla ekosysteemiprosessien kannalta tärkeämpiä. Vähätuottoisella tundralla kasvinsyöjien vaikutuksen kasvillisuuteen tiedetään olevan merkittävä, mutta suuri osa tutkimuksesta on keskittynyt laiduntajien ravintokasveihin. The present study aimed to investigate the associations between teachers’ observed emotional support and social competence among Finnish pre-schoolers (6-year-olds). The quality of emotional support was observed using the Classroom Assessment Scoring System Pre-K in 47 preschool classrooms twice across the preschool year. Teachers rated children’s social competence in autumn and again in spring, using the Multisource Assessment of Social Competence Scale (MASCS), which produced sum scores for cooperating skills, empathy, impulsivity, and disruptiveness. Tutkimuksessani perehdyn suomalaisen työmarkkinaneuvottelujärjestelmään muuttuvassa maailmassa. Työni tarkoitus on osoittaa, että suomalainen tupojärjestelmä on murroksessa vuoden 2007 liittokierroksen jälkeen. Työssäni käyn läpi suomalaisen tulopoliittisen sopimusjärjestelmän historiaa ja nykyhetkeä sekä pohdin järjestelmän jatkomahdollisuuksia. The paper presents a microsimulation approach for assessing the safety performance of turbo-roundabouts where Cooperative Autonomous Vehicles “CAVs” have been introduced into the traffic mix alongside conventional vehicles “CVs”. In 2015, Finland, like other European countries, received an unprecedented number of asylum seekers. Later, in the aftermath of what we prefer to call the ‘refugee reception crisis’, the deportation of those who had received negative asylum decisions began. The Finnish Immigration Service significantly tightened its policies after 2015. Increasingly strict asylum criteria have resulted in deportations at a level never seen before.
