Objectives: We investigated the associations of accelerometry-derived osteogenic indices (OIs), moderate-to-vigorous (MVPA), and vigorous intensity physical activity (VPA) with peripheral quantitative computed tomography (pCQT) parameters in 99 adolescents aged 10–13 years. Methods: Bone parameters were assessed at the distal (4%) and shaft (66%) of the tibia using pQCT. Accelerometers were worn on the right hip for 7 consecutive days. International audience; This study uses the case of an oncological paediatric service to discuss sensemaking and discourse ethics in the context of caregiving, building ethical competence to provide the best care possible to children. The patients and their families live in paediatric care, some for several years. At length, an intense relationship may develop between the medical staff and patients' family members, albeit at times a difficult relationship. Still, interviews conducted indicated that when caregivers provided the best care possible to these patients, even in this harsh environment, an ethics of sensitivity made a positive difference both for the patients and the medical staff.…
Neuromuscular disorders and non compaction: How much is the strength of the association and how can it be suspected?

In many reports Finsterer and Stöllberger reported a strong association between non compaction of the left ventricle and neuromuscular disorders. In the same report the authors described a neurological involvement in more than 50%. Recently we published our personal experience, about 21 paediatric patients: only 4 patients (19%) showed a neuromuscular disorder, and only 1 of them showed an increased plasmatic level of CK, and in particular of MM isoform, with a normal level of CK-MB. Associations between neonatal cry acoustics and visual attention during the first year

It has been suggested that early cry parameters are connected to later cognitive abilities. The present study is the first to investigate whether the acoustic features of infant cry are associated with cognitive development already during the first year, as measured by oculomotor orienting and attention disengagement. Cry sounds for acoustic analyses (fundamental frequency; F0) were recorded in two neonatal cohorts at the age of 0–8 days (Tampere, Finland) or at 6 weeks (Cape Town, South Africa).
