Comparison of activity in the 2-propanol dehydration of supported heteropolyacid (photo)catalysts at the gas-solid interface
2015
Catalytic and photocatalytic tests for 2-propanol dehydration to propene were successfully carried out by using binary materials obtained by supporting a Keggin heteropolyacid H3PW12O40 (PW12) via impregnation method and/or solvothermal treatment. The supports used were commercial SiO2 (Mallinckrodt), TiO2 (Evonik P25) and multiwall carbon nanotubes (Sunnano) or home solvothermically prepared SiO2 and TiO2. (Photo)catalytic 2-propanol dehydration was studied in gas-solid regime by using a continuous (photo)reactor working at atmospheric pressure and 80 °C. the reaction was also studied by performing FTIR spectra of the gas-phase over the HPA-support composites, where the 2-propanol had been…

Untargeted metabolomics to explore the oxidation processes during shelf life of pork patties treated with guarana seed extracts
2019
The changes of metabolites in pork patties with different antioxidants added (control without antioxidants, 200 mg kg(-1) butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) and 250 mg kg(-1) guarana seed extracts (GSEs)) under modified atmosphere (80% O-2 and 20% CO2) for 18 days of refrigerated storage were evaluated. Untargeted metabolomic approach based on UHPLC-ESI-QTOF-MS analysis was applied. GSE phytochemical profile revealed a wide variety of compounds (caffeine, glycerol 1-propanoate, amino acids, alkaloids and glycerophospholipids), together with antioxidants (tyrosols, procyanidins and flavonoids). Important differences in BHT and GSE patties metabolomic profiles were found during storage. Most of t…
El 20-N o el azar en la Historia
2007
Intercultural crisis communication during the 2011 Fukushima nuclear disaster
2014
With the motivation of contributing to further development of the emerging field of intercultural crisis communication, the study aims at exploring the reasons why the global media criticized the Japanese authorities’ crisis communication during the 2011 Fukushima nuclear disaster through the inductive content analysis on both the Japanese authorities’ crisis communication and the global media’s perceptions on the Japanese authorities’ crisis communication. The data collected from 11 March to September 2011, including 160 press releases, transcripts of the foreign press conferences and speeches delivered at the international conferences by the Japanese authorities, and 120 news reports from…
Impact on Air Quality of the COVID-19 Lockdown in the Urban Area of Palermo (Italy).
2020
At the end of 2019, the first cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) were reported in Wuhan, China. Thereafter, the number of infected people increased rapidly, and the outbreak turned into a national crisis, with infected individuals all over the country. The COVID-19 global pandemic produced extreme changes in human behavior that affected air quality. Human mobility and production activities decreased significantly, and many regions recorded significant reductions in air pollution. The goal of our investigation was to evaluate the impact of the COVID-19 lockdown on the concentrations of the main air pollutants in the urban area of Palermo (Italy). In this study, the trends in the average…
Prevalence of SARS-CoV-2-IgG Antibodies in Children with CKD or Immunosuppression
2021
Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) rapidly spread from China as a pandemic, with Italy one of the most affected countries worldwide. Unlike adults, children have a milder presentation of COVID-19, even when affected by CKD or on immunosuppressive therapy for glomerulopathies and kidney
