Background: The COVID-19 pandemic is a massive health crisis that has exerted enormous physical and psychological pressure. Mental healthcare for healthcare workers (HCWs) should receive serious consideration. This study served to determine the mental-health outcomes of 1,556 HCWs from 45 countries who participated in the COVID-19 IMPACT project, and to examine the predictors of the outcomes during the first pandemic wave. Methods: Outcomes assessed were self-reported perceived stress, depression symptom, and sleep changes. The predictors examined included sociodemographic factors and perceived social support. COVID-19 hit the global economy hard in early 2020, and airline industry was among the biggest commercial victims. Governments closed borders, the virus scared off travelers and the aircraft stayed on the ground to a large extent. The forecasted record year turned out to be the worst in the history of aviation. This study focused on the concerns of airline customers and analyzed the differences between the customer behavior in two focus markets, Finland and Sweden. The COVID-19 pandemic has affected our lives in many ways since the end of 2019. This paper investigates the everyday lives of Finnish older persons during the first three months of the pandemic when they were required to stay in “quarantine-like conditions.” The study utilises the ‘sociology of nothing’ in exploring the meanings of nothingness in the everyday lives of older people; that is, the things, events and people that were absent from their lives because of the pandemic. Scrivere della propria esperienza dell'abitare nella costrizione provocata dalla pandemia mette insieme pensieri che fra loro possono stridere come due lamiere che improvvisamente e con violenza arrivano al contatto. Si sprigiona una scintilla fra immagini contrapposte. Per dare forma a queste due figure si richiama una poesia intitolata "Prospettiva" di Wislawa Szymborska e un breve ricordo del padre di Georges Simenon. I due testi mettono insieme le sensazioni opposte che ognuno di noi ha vissuto a casa in questo periodo. Un attimo del presente e un ricordo vissuto del passato remoto.
