Objective The aim of this study was to introduce the VaccinaTion & Hpv Knowledge (THinK) questionnaire to assess knowledge about human papillomavirus (HPV) and attitude to HPV-vaccination. Its reliability and validity was demonstrated in a sample of women living in Sicily (southern Italy). Methods A cross-sectional survey was conducted on a sample of 220 women at the “Paolo Giaccone” University Hospital in Palermo (Sicily), aged 18–61. Organization of the major and minor capsid proteins in human papillomavirus type 33 virus-like particles.

The organization of the major (L1) and minor (L2) proteins in the human papillomavirus capsid is still largely unknown. In this study we analysed the disulphide bonding between L1 proteins and the association of L2 proteins with capsomers using virus-like particles obtained in insect cells by co-expression of the L1 and L2 genes of human papillomavirus type 33. About 50% of the L1 protein molecules in these particles (1.29 g/cm3) formed disulphide-bonded trimers. Reduction of the intermolecular disulphide bonds by dithiothreitol (DTT) treatment caused disassembly of virus-like particles into capsomers. AbstractWith few additions (structures here called prenarial lobes, prenarial arena pustulations, prevalar pustulations), WASSERSUG'S ( 1976) terminology is adequate to describe the oral structures of Central European anuran larvae. The oral cavities of Bombina and Alytes (Discoglossidoidei) are very similar in structure. Based on oral anatomy Pelabates fuscus appears to occupy an intermediate position within the Anura and a basal position among the Ranoidea, which are morphilogical very heterogeneous in oral characters. Summary Objective Recurrent respiratory papillomatosis (RRP) is the most common benign neoplasm affecting the larynx and upper respiratory tract. BRAFV600E mutation, TIMP-1 upregulation, and NF-κB activation: closing the loop on the papillary thyroid cancer trilogy.

BRAFV600E is the most common mutation found in papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC). Tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinases (TIMP-1) and nuclear factor (NF)-κB have been shown to play an important role in thyroid cancer. In particular, TIMP-1 binds its receptor CD63 on cell surface membrane and activates Akt signaling pathway, which is eventually responsible for its anti-apoptotic activity. Sodium butyrate with UCN-01 has marked antitumour activity against cervical cancer cells.

The effect of combining sodium butyrate (NaB), a histone deacetylase inhibitor, and 7-hydroxy-staurosporine (UCN-01) on cytotoxicity in human cervical carcinoma cells was evaluated.HeLa and CaSki cells were treated using NaB alone or in combination with staurosporine (STS) or its analog UCN-01. Cytotoxicity was determined by flow cytometry and morphological assays. Apoptotic pathways were characterized by Western blotting and immunostaining.
