Migration of Melanoblasts into the Developing Murine Hair Follicle Is Accompanied by Transient c-Kit Expression

Disruption of the c-Kit/stem cell factor (SCF) signaling pathway interferes with the survival, migration, and differentiation of melanocytes during generation of the hair follicle pigmentary unit. We examined c-Kit, SCF, and S100 (a marker for precursor melanocytic cells) expression, as well as melanoblast/melanocyte ultrastructure, in perinatal C57BL/6 mouse skin. Before the onset of hair bulb melanogenesis (i.e., stages 0–4 of hair follicle morphogenesis), strong c-Kit immunoreactivity (IR) was seen in selected non-mela-nogenic cells in the developing hair placode and hair plug. The aim of this study was to observe the microcirculation characteristics of the human filiform papillae in healthy patients in vivo. Twenty healthy patients were examined using lingual capillaroscopy to investigate the characteristics of microcirculation of the human filiform papillae. The aim of this study was to analyse microvascular damage and compensatory angiogenesis in skin from patients with systemic sclerosis (SSc) compared with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), Raynaud's phenomenon (RP) and healthy controls. Immunohistochemistry was used for skin biopsies (9 SSc, 10 SLE, 9 RP and 12 healthy controls) using von Willebrand factor and beta3 integrin subunit specific antibodies, TechMate immunostaining robot and biotin-streptavidin protocol. Unvolvement of calcium signaling and MAP kinases in lipid taste perception

In this work, we demonstrate that stromal interaction molecule 1 (STIM1), a sensor of Ca2+ depletion in the endoplasmic reticulum, mediates fatty acid–induced Ca2+ signaling in the mouse tongue and fat preference. We showed that linoleic acid (LA) induced the production of arachidonic acid (AA) and lysophosphatidylcholine (Lyso-PC) by activating multiple phospholipase A2 isoforms via CD36. This activation triggered Ca2+ influx in lingual CD36-positive taste bud cells (TBCs) purified from mouse CVP. LA also induced the production of Ca2+ influx factor (CIF).
