Training Effects on Laboratory Parameters Are Independent of Genetic Polymorphisms of IL-10 and TNF-alpha (TNF-α)

2012

Background: It is well known that exercise has beneficial effects on health. Although intense exercise is experienced by the body as a condition of stress, a well designed training has long term beneficial effects on the organism of an athlete. Less is known about the effects that the genetic background might have on training adaptation and on the consequent modification of laboratory parameters. Methods: In our study we evaluated the blood chemistry parameters of a group of 41 athletes compared with a group of 45 amateur athletes, to assess whether the training has effects on their variation. In addition we typed our subjects for polymorphisms 308 A/G of the tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α)…

Modeling the magnetic properties of lanthanide complexes: relationship of the REC parameters with Pauling electronegativity and coordination number

2015

In a previous study, we introduced the Radial Effective Charge (REC) model to study the magnetic properties of lanthanide single ion magnets. Now, we perform an empirical determination of the effective charges (Zi) and radial displacements (Dr) of this model using spectroscopic data. This systematic study allows us to relate Dr and Zi with chemical factors such as the coordination number and the electronegativities of the metal and the donor atoms. This strategy is being used to drastically reduce the number of free parameters in the modeling of the magnetic and spectroscopic properties of f-element complexes. Performance of ATLAS tracking detector

2012

The track and vertex reconstruction algorithms of the ATLAS Inner Detector have demonstrated excellent performance in the early data from the LHC. However, the rapidly increas- ing number of interactions per bunch crossing introduces new challenges both in computational aspects and physics performance. The combination of both silicon and gas based detectors provides high precision impact parameter and momentum measurement of charged particles, with high efficiency and small fake rate. Vertex reconstruction is used to identify with high efficiency the hard scattering process and to measure the amount of pile-up interactions, both aspects are cru- cial for many physics analyses. The performan…

Characterization of thin film CIG(S,SE)2 submodules using solar simulator and laser beam induced current techniques (Versione estesa)

2015

In this work, the electrical and optical characterization of CIG(S, Se)2 sub-modules using both a solar simulator equipment and the Laser Beam Induced Current (LBIC) technique is presented. By using the solar simulator and a proper set-up, the electrical parameters of the modules at varying irradiance and temperatures are determined. In addition, the LBIC measurements are carried out to analyze the 2D photocurrent uniformity of the modules at two different wavelengths. Dispersion values of extracted parameters can be very useful for practically tuning the modelling stage at device/module level.

OLF : RGB-D Adaptive Late Fusion for Robust 6D Pose Estimation

2023

RGB-D 6D pose estimation has recently gained significant research attention due to the complementary information provided by depth data. However, in real-world scenarios, especially in industrial applications, the depth and color images are often more noisy. Existing methods typically employ fusion designs that equally average RGB and depth features, which may not be optimal. In this paper, we propose a novel fusion design that adaptively merges RGB-D cues. Our approach involves assigning two learnable weight α 1 and α 2 to adjust the RGB and depth contributions with respect to the network depth. This enables us to improve the robustness against low-quality depth input in a simple yet effec…

Modelling of light transmittance and reflectance in flat fluidized photoreactors

1992

In recent years several photon induced chemical reactions involving the use of a solid catalyst have been studied. Flat fluidized beds have proved to be promising devices for carrying out these photocatalytic reactions. There is therefore a need for the modelling of light interactions within such kinds of photoreactors. In this paper, a phenomenological model is proposed for simulating the light transmission and reflection in flat fluidized gas-solid photoreactors. A detailed description of the model is presented. The model predictions were compared with experimental data and a satisfactory agreement was found. Correlations were also suggested for the estimation of model parameters. Depuis …
