A model study of nuclear structure functions
1994
We calculate the structure function for a deuteron using the hadronic quark cluster decomposition. By assuming that nuclei might be composed of quasi deuterons, we study their structure functions. The procedure enables a quantum mechanical parametrization of various scenarios, among them nuclear dynamics and nucleon swelling. Moreover it is specially suited to study quark exchange effects. We show, within a scheme where perturbative evolution effects are minimized, that the region around x=1 is very sensitive to these two mechanisms and their effects can be disentangled.

We demonstrated broadband second-harmonic generation via random Quasi-Phase-Matching in periodically poled Lithium Tantalate.
Parametric excitation of bending deformations of a rod by periodic twist
2013
A model of a semiflexible magnetic filament with magnetization frozen in the direction perpendicular to the tangent of its center line is formulated. It is shown that if the rod is magnetized at its ends in opposite directions, an AC magnetic field causes parametric excitation of bending deformations. Neutral curves of parametric excitation are calculated both analytically and numerically. The shapes arising upon parametric excitation of bending deformations are chiral. Periodic rotation of the chiral filament due to nonhomogeneous twist in a nonhomogeneous AC field causes its unidirectional motion.
Exchange-correlation energy of a multicomponent two-dimensional electron gas
2003
We discuss the exchange-correlation energy of a multicomponent (multi-valley) two-dimensional electron gas and show that an extension of the recent parametrisation of the exchange-correlation energy by Attacalite et al (Phys. Rev. Lett. 88, 256601 (2002)) describes well also the multicomponent system. We suggest a simple mass dependence of the correlation energy and apply it to study the phase diagram of the multicomponent 2D electron (or hole) gas. The results show that even a small mass difference of the components (e.g. heavy and light holes) decreases the concentration of the lighter components already at relatively high densities.
Model Analysis of Hydrometeor Scattering Effects on Free Space Near-Infrared Links
2012
A promising technology for peer-to-peer connections and urban area networks is represented by wireless communications through free space using optical carrier (Free Space Optics, FSO). This technology ensures high data rates, with relatively low error rates, low power consumption and inherent security. Nevertheless FSO links are quite sensitive to atmospheric condition. Fog droplets, but also raindrops and snowflakes, may introduce severe path attenuation which drastically reduces the channel availability. A parametric model to simulate droplets scattering effects over the FSO link in terms of extinction coefficient, albedo factor and asymmetry coefficient as function of the particle water …
INFLUENCE OF UNCERTAINTIES ON PD TUNING
2013
The aim of this work is to present a method for tuning the parameters of PD controller under the influences of the uncertainties, in order to stabilize the position of a rotor supported by active magnetic bearings (AMBs). The uncertainties are relative to mass, transverse and polar moment of inertia of the rotor. The introduction of the uncertainties is due to an incomplete modeled dynamic of the system or in the case the system being subjected to a parametric variation. The presence of the uncertainties produces a set of differences among the values of the output. Poles displacement method is used to reach the asymptotically stability condition characterized by a periodic oscillation durin…

Multimode squeezing of frequency combs
2006
We have developed a full multimode theory of a synchronously pumped type-I optical parametric oscillator. We calculate the output quantum fluctuations of the device and find that, in the degenerate case (coincident signal and idler set of frequencies), significant squeezing is obtained when one approaches threshold from below for a set of well-defined ``supermodes,'' or frequency combs, consisting of a coherent linear superposition of signal modes of different frequencies which are resonant in the cavity.
