The investment model (2003) has been widely used in romantic relationship studies but rarely in an intercultural context. This study tests the investment model by examining Finnish-Chinese couples’ self-perceptions of commitment level and relationship maintenance behaviors. A qualitative research method with deductive thematic analysis approach is applied. This study finds that Finnish-Chinese couples have relatively high level of commitment. In Nordic countries, intimate relationships are routinely compared against ideals of gender equality, even though equality is not always achieved in everyday life. In this article, we analyse interviews with women that lived in unconventional relationships: mid- to later-life women in relationships with younger men, and bisexual women who have had relationships with people of different genders. The women’s expectations of equality and reciprocity in heterosexual relationships collided with the lived reality of inequalities, causing affective dissonance. This case study used qualitative content analysis to examine the cases of two intimately violent men. Both participated in a group intervention but experienced dramatically different outcomes. In the case of "Henri", the intervention was especially successful, but in the case of "Mikael" it was unsuccessful. Designing parenting interventions and preventions requires knowledge on the factors and processes that shape parenting behaviors. Using data collected over 10 days, during the last hour of work and before going to bed, this study examined the spillover of interpersonal work stresses into positive and negative parenting behaviors. Data were collected among 103 couples who had at least one child between the age of one and eight years.
