Charged Higgs boson and stau phenomenology in the simplest R-parity breaking model
1997
We consider the charged scalar boson phenomenology in the simplest effective low-energy R-parity breaking model characterized by a bilinear violation of R-parity in the superpotential. This induces a mixing between staus and the charged Higgs boson. We show that the charged Higgs boson mass can be lower than expected in the MSSM, even before including radiative corrections. We also study the charged scalar boson decay branching ratios and show that the R-parity violating decay rates can be comparable or even bigger than the R-parity conserving ones. Moreover, if the stau is the LSP it will have only decays into standard model fermions. These features could have important implications for ch…
Number-parity effect for confined fermions in one dimension
2015
For $N$ spin-polarized fermions with harmonic pair interactions in a $1$-dimensional trap an odd-even effect is found. The spectrum of the $1$-particle reduced density matrix of the system's ground state differs qualitatively for $N$ odd and $N$ even. This effect does only occur for strong attractive and repulsive interactions. Since it does not exists for bosons, it must originate from the repulsive nature implied by the fermionic exchange statistics. In contrast to the spectrum, the $1$-particle density and correlation function for strong attractive interactions do not show any sensitivity on the number parity. This also suggests that reduced-density-matrix-functional theory has a more su…
Canonical Neutral Current Predictions From The Weak Electromagnetic Gauge Group SU(3) X U(1)
1980
A straightforward SU(3) x U(1) model in which there is effectively one new neutral-current parameter (denoted by R) is shown to give the canonical neutrino neutral-current predictions for all values of R. For small R the ''low-energy'' theory is essentially SU(2) x U(1) while for R of the order of one it has a much richer ''low-energy'' gauge-boson mass spectrum. Even in the latter case, the predicted e-d asymmetry agrees with experiment. It is interesting that the atomic-physics parity violation depends sensitively on R.
Search for supersymmetric particles with R-parity violation in Z decays
1995
Searches for supersymmetric particles produced in e(+)e(-) interactions at the Z peak have been performed under the assumptions that R-parity is not conserved, that the dominant R-parity violating coupling involves only leptonic fields, and that the lifetime of the lightest supersymmetric particle can be neglected. In a data sample collected by the ALEPH detector at LEP up to 1993, and corresponding to almost two million hadronic Z decays, no signal was observed. As a result, supersymmetric particle masses and couplings are at least as well constrained as under the usual assumption of R-parity conservation.
Charge and current distributions in elastic electron scattering by 1P shell nuclei
1974
The authors study the charge and magnetic form factors appearing in elastic electron scattering by 1p shell nuclei. The question that the form factors may be obtained from simple nuclear models by simply introducing a scaling factor has been examined using the j-j coupling, the L-S coupling and the intermediate coupling of Cohen-Kurath (CK) resulting from effective interactions. Results for /sup 6/Li, /sup 7 /Li, /sup 9/Be and /sup 13/C are given and the q/sup 2/ dependences of their form factors are compared in the three models and with experiment. The CK scheme gives similar results to the L-S coupling for /sup 6/Li and /sup 7/Li in agreement with experiment, whereas it is intermediate be…
A study of coupled-reaction channel effects in the36S +37Cl system, hybridization between single particle orbits
1996
Elastic and inelastic scattering as well as transfer transitions involving a valence proton in thesd- andfp- shell orbits are studied in the interaction of37Cl +36S at ECM=50 MeV. Experimental angular distributions of single particle states of37Cl (elastic and inelastic transfer) are presented with a CRC analysis. In the CRC calculations the effects of inelastic and transfer couplings are studied using known spectroscopic information. In the CRC analysis six single particle bound states and the collective 2+ excitation of36S are included in the coupling scheme. Higher order coupling effects are found to be important. A distinct effect, the mixing of single particle states (of different pari…
Equivalence betweenXYand dimerized models
2010
The spin-$1/2$ chain with $\mathit{XY}$ anisotropic coupling in the plane and the $\mathit{XX}$ isotropic dimerized chain are shown to be equivalent in the bulk. For finite systems, we prove that the equivalence is exact in given parity sectors, after taking care of the precise boundary conditions. The proof is given constructively by finding unitary transformations that map the models onto each other. Moreover, we considerably generalized our mapping and showed that even in the case of fully site-dependent couplings the $\mathit{XY}$ chain can be mapped onto an $\mathit{XX}$ model. This result has potential application in the study of disordered systems.
The Mainz A4 parity violation experiment (single spin asymmetries in elastic scattering)
2005
Abstract The A4 experiment at the MAMI facility in Mainz measures a parity violating single spin asymmetry in the scattering of longitudinally polarized electrons off unpolarized protons. The longitudinal single spin asymmetry is parity violating and arises from the interference of the weak and electromagnetic one-boson exchange amplitude. It is sensitive to the strangeness contribution to the electromagnetic form factors of the nucleon. Recently the transverse single spin asymmetry has gained much interest. It is purely electromagnetic in origin and arises from the interference of the one-photon with the two-photon exchange amplitude. It is a time-odd quantity and sensitive to the imaginar…
Parity-violating asymmetry in elastic electron-nucleus scattering due to weak neutral currents
1980
Parity-violating asymmetries are calculated for elastic scattering of electrons on nuclei of arbitrary spin and isospin. Possible dependences on nuclear-model input are shown to be weak. Elastic electron scattering at intermediate energies may become an important tool in studying the structure of hadronic weak neutral currents.
Neutralino phenomenology at LEP2 in supersymmetry with bilinear breaking of R-parity
2000
We discuss the phenomenology of the lightest neutralino in models where an effective bilinear term in the superpotential parametrizes the explicit breaking of R-parity. We consider supergravity scenarios where the lightest supersymmetric particle (LSP) is the lightest neutralino and which can be explored at LEP2. We present a detailed study of the LSP decay properties and general features of the corresponding signals expected at LEP2. We also contrast our model with gauge mediated supersymmetry breaking.
