Random Tanglegram Partitions (Random TaPas): An Alexandrian Approach to the Cophylogenetic Gordian Knot
2018
Abstract Symbiosis is a key driver of evolutionary novelty and ecological diversity, but our understanding of how macroevolutionary processes originate extant symbiotic associations is still very incomplete. Cophylogenetic tools are used to assess the congruence between the phylogenies of two groups of organisms related by extant associations. If phylogenetic congruence is higher than expected by chance, we conclude that there is cophylogenetic signal in the system under study. However, how to quantify cophylogenetic signal is still an open issue. We present a novel approach, Random Tanglegram Partitions (Random TaPas) that applies a given global-fit method to random partial tanglegrams of …
A Comparative Study and an Evaluation Framework of Multi/Hyperspectral Image Compression
2009
In this paper, we investigate different approaches for multi/hyperspectral image compression. In particular, we compare the classic multi-2D compression approach and two different implementations of 3D approach (full 3D and hybrid) with regards to variations in spatial and spectral dimensions. All approaches are combined with a weighted Principal Component Analysis (PCA) decorrelation stage to optimize performance. For consistent evaluation, we propose a larger comparison framework than the conventionally used PSNR, including eight metrics divided into three families. The results show the weaknesses and strengths of each approach.
A predictive approach for a real-time remote visualization of large meshes
2012
Déjà sur HAL; Remote access to large meshes is the subject of studies since several years. We propose in this paper a contribution to the problem of remote mesh viewing. We work on triangular meshes. After a study of existing methods of remote viewing, we propose a visualization approach based on a client-server architecture, in which almost all operations are performed on the server. Our approach includes three main steps: a first step of partitioning the original mesh, generating several fragments of the original mesh that can be supported by the supposed smaller Transfer Control Protocol (TCP) window size of the network, a second step called pre-simplification of the mesh partitioned, ge…
Exploring NoC Virtualization Alternatives in CMPs
2012
Chip Multiprocessor systems (CMPs) contain more and more cores in every new generation. However, applications for these systems do not scale at the same pace. Thus, in order to obtain a good utilization several applications will need to coexist in the system and in those cases virtualization of the CMP system will become mandatory. In this paper we analyze two virtualization strategies at NoC-level aiming to isolate the traffic generated by each application to reduce or even eliminate interferences among messages belonging to different applications. The first model handles most interferences among messages with a virtual-channels (VCs) implementation minimizing both execution time and netwo…
Polymetamorphism and ductile deformation of staurolite-cordierite schist of the Bossost Dome: indication for Variscan extension in the Axial Zone of …
2003
The Bossòst dome is an E–W-trending elongated structural and metamorphic dome developed in Cambro-Ordovician metasedimentary rocks in the Variscan Axial Zone of the central Pyrenees. A steep fault separates a northern half-dome, cored by massif granite, from an E–W-trending doubly plunging antiform with granitic sills and dykes in the core to the south. The main foliation is a flat-lying S1/2 schistosity that grades into a steeper-dipping slaty cleavage at the dome margins. Three major deformational and two metamorphic phases can be differentiated. S1/2 schistosity is an axial planar cleavage to W-vergent recumbent folding that probably occurred in mid-Westphalian time. Peak regional metamo…
