Helena Radlińska była zasłużoną bohaterką “drugiej linii” podczas drugiej wojny światowej. Jej działalność była bardzo ważna dla cywilnego i wojskowego konspiracyjnego ruchu podziemnego. Organizowała konspiracyjne formy edukacyjne dla młodzieży i dorosłych, jak w szczególności kursy nauczycielskie, studia społeczne, kursy „mazurskie”. Wspomagała patriotyczną działalność wydawniczą, prowadziła badania naukowe, tworzyła i koordynowała sieci podziemnych powiązań społecznych. In the paper, the author presents the position of sociologists and educators talking about the regional education. He compares their interpretations concerning the basie terms, such as: regionalism, cultural heritage, regional education, or regional identity. The article is a reflection showing the influence of ”the global village” and glocalisation on the formation of regional enclaves striving for the broadly understood identity. The leitmotiv of discussion is the sentence: ”think globally-act locally.”

L’Elsässischer Turnerbund, devenue en 1918 l’Avant-garde du Rhin, avait pour principe de faire des sportifs de bons catholiques et de bons patriotes. Cet objectif rejoignait en théorie celui de la Fédération gymnastique et sportive des patronages de France à laquelle elle était affiliée depuis la fin de la Première Guerre mondiale. Très vite cependant elle se distingua par sa volonté farouche de préserver son identité régionale et sa conception fédéraliste de la nation.

This text is part of the author’s research on the literary culture of the nineteenth-century Upper Silesia. The author shows that at the forefront of modern Europe (at the beginning of industrialization and urbanization of the continent) the autochthon writers of Upper Silesia undertook actions aimed at fostering cultural awareness amongst their compatriots, who were considered to belong to a national minority, in order to instil patriotic feelings in them. In the current post-colonial discourse their struggles are recognized as the “voice of the periphery”.
