The boson peak of deeply cooled confined water reveals the existence of a low-temperature liquid-liquid crossover.

International audience; The Boson peak of deeply cooled water confined in the pores of a silica xerogel is studied by inelastic neutron scattering at different hydration levels to separate the contributions from matrix, water on the pore surfaces and "internal" water. Our results reveal that at high hydration level, where the contribution from internal water is dominant, the temperature dependence of the Boson peak intensity shows an inflection point at about 225 K. The complementary use of differential scanning calorimetry to describe the thermodynamics of the system allows identifying the inflection point as the signature of a water liquid-liquid crossover.

Para Milan Kundera el hecho de que Europa no haya conseguido pensar su literatura como una unidad histórica supone un fracaso intelectual irreparable. Sin embargo, aunque los intentos de componer esa Historia no han cesado, urge en las circunstancias actuales pensar esa unidad, imaginar una Europa que no dependa de los mercados, de los bancos ni tampoco de la política económica y turística. La diversidad y la voluntad de mantener las diferencias, que identifica a Europa, debería ir acompañada del deseo de establecer unos vínculos, de anclar la “idea de Europa”. Peatlands play key roles in the global ecosystem carbon (C) balance, as important C-stores. Their efficiency as long-term C-stores or atmospheric C sink is affected by the rate of microbial mineralization. Most studies on the climate change effects on the microbial communities and C-cycling in peatlands have focused on the surface layers. Tämä tutkielma tarkastelee lukion opiskelijoiden mielipiteitä englannin kielen puhumisen opetuksesta. Tarkoituksena oli kartoittaa, pitävätkö opiskelijat puhumista tärkeänä taitona ja opetetaanko sitä heidän mielestään tarpeeksi. Tutkielmassa käsitellään puhumista teorian, opettamisen ja valtakunnallisen lukion opetussuunnitelman perusteiden näkökulmasta, sekä aiempien tutkimusten valossa. Puhetaidon opetuksesta on suomalaisessa kontekstissa tehty vähäisesti tutkimusta, vaikka ääntämisen osa-alueesta on paljonkin tutkimusta. Tämän tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli selvittää kognitiivisten ja emotionaalisten tekijöiden yhteyttä laskutaidon sujuvuuden intervention vasteeseen. Tarkaste-lun kohteena kognitiivisista tekijöistä olivat lukujonotaidot, työmuisti, fonolo-ginen tietoisuus sekä nopean nimeämisen taidot, emotionaalisista matemaattinen kiinnostus ja minäkäsitys. Tutkimus koostui Jyväskylän Yliopiston ja Niilo Mäki Instituutin Minäpystyvyys ja oppimisinterventiot –tutkimushankkeen aineistosta, joka on kerätty Keski- ja Itä-Suomen kouluissa 2.-5. –luokkalaisilta oppilailta vuosina 2013-2014. Tämän tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli selvittää kognitiivisten taustataitojen yhteyttä peruslaskutaidon sujuvuuden kehitykseen. Tarkasteltuja taustataitoja olivat lukujonotaidot, lukujen vertailu, työmuisti ja nopea nimeäminen. Tutkimuksen aineistona käytettiin Jyväskylän yliopiston Lasten luku- ja laskutaidon sujuvuus -hankkeen aineistoa. Aineisto kerättiin vuonna 2016 keskisuomalaisista peruskouluista. Tutkimukseen osallistui 200 oppilasta, joiden yhteen- ja vähennyslaskutaidon sujuvuuden kehitystä tarkasteltiin ensimmäisen luokan keväästä toisen luokan syksyyn.
