Toxic oxysterols in a hypercholesterolaemia-relevant proportion cause suicidal death of human erythrocytes or eryptosis. This process proceeds through early production of reactive oxygen species (ROS), release of prostaglandin (PGE2) and opening of PGE2-dependent Ca channels, membrane phosphatidylserine (PS) externalisation, and cell shrinkage. Use of stable isotope analysis to evaluate the possible impact of fish migration on a lake biomanipulation

1. A lake restoration project involving mass fish removals was started to improve further the water quality of a lake recovering from severe eutrophication. The effectiveness of such biomanipulation as a lake management option could be compromised if removed fish are rapidly replaced by large-scale immigration from a connected lake. 2. Arterial hypertension (AH) among adults is known to be associated with worse cognitive outcomes. Similarly, children and adolescents with AH could be expected to underperform during neuropsychological evaluations when compared with healthy peers. A theoretical description of the mechanism of lithium insertion into amorphous thin films of tungsten trioxide (a-WO3) prepared by thermal vacuum evaporation of WO3 powder is presented. The model developed is based on the experimental results obtained by chronoamperometry and ac impedance spectroscopy associated with electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance (EQCM). Laser depassivation of a channel flow double-electrode: A new technique in repassivation studies

Abstract A powerful tool for distinguishing between the different electrochemical steps involved during a depassivation-repassivation sequence was developed by combining the pulsed laser depassivation technique with an hydrodynamic electrochemical method: the channel flow double-electrode (CFDE).
