The work-family interface and its correlates : integrating variable and person oriented approaches

The aim of this research was to examine key correlates of the interaction between work and family in one Nordic country, Finland, using a person- oriented and variable-oriented approach. The correlates that were chosen and examined over the course of three studies were job control and work-family boundary management styles, turnover intention, core self-evaluations, and vigor at work. This study investigated the association between the home food environment and the consumption frequency of raw and cooked vegetables, berries and fruit among 3–5-year-old children and their mothers and fathers. Raportissa esitellään varhaiskasvatuksen lähiesihenkilöille syksyllä 2020 toteutetun kyselyn tuloksia varhaiskasvatuspalveluiden tuottamisesta koronaviruspandemian aikana. Normaalioloissa kansallinen lainsäädäntö määrittelee varhaiskasvatustoiminnan reunaehdot. Keväällä 2020 koronaviruspandemian vuoksi voimaan astuneen poikkeustilan aikana kunnat kuitenkin vapautettiin varhaiskasvatuslain mukaisesta varhaiskasvatuksen järjestämisvastuusta, mikäli lapsen vanhempien tai huoltajien oli mahdollista järjestää lapsen hoito muulla tavalla. Tämä osaraportti esittelee Jyväskylän yliopiston yhteistyössä Terveyden ja hyvinvoinnin laitoksen (THL) kanssa toteuttaman Varhaiskasvatus ja koronapandemia -hankkeen kyselytutkimuksen toteutuksen ja vastaajatietoja. Tutkimuksessa tarkastellaan kouluvalintapolitiikan käyttöä lasten sijoittamisessa oppivelvollisuuskouluihin. Kyse on ylikansallisesta toimintapolitiikasta, jonka mukaan vanhemmat voivat hakea lapselle koulupaikkaa haluamaansa kouluun ja koulut voivat (osittain) valita oppilaansa. Kouluvalintapolitiikkaa on toteutettu Suomen yhtenäiskoulujärjestelmässä 1990-luvun puolivälistä alkaen. Kouluvalintapolitiikan tapahtumapaikka käsitteellistetään koulumarkkinoiksi. This study examines the direct and indirect effects of home numeracy and literacy environment, and parental factors (parental reading and math difficulties, and parental education) on the development of several early numeracy and literacy skills. The 265 participating Finnish children were assessed four times between ages 2.5 and 6.5.
