Useat Suomen mediassa viime vuosina julkaistut otsikot yhdessä kansainvälisten työn ja perhe-elämän yhteensovittamista tarkastelleiden tutkimusten kanssa ovat osoittaneet, että yksinhuoltajaäitien työ epätyypillisinä aikoina, esimerkiksi iltaisin, öisin ja viikonloppuisin, voi vahvistaa perheiden arjessaan kohtaamia haasteita. Äitien vuorotyö sekä työn ja perhe-elämän yhteensovittamisen haasteet voivat heijastua kielteisesti myös lapsen hyvinvointiin. Vaikka Suomessa naisten epätyypilliset työajat ovat yleisiä, tutkimustietoa yksinhuoltajaäitien kokemuksista ei ole juuri ollut saatavilla. Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli saada selville kuinka yleistä on viedä sisarus päivähoitoon ja mitkä syyt vaikuttavat päätökseen hoitopaikasta. Aiheeseen perehdyin lasten kasvu- ja toimintaympäristöjen kautta, jotka tässä tutkimuksessa ovat koti- ja päivähoitoympäristöt. Family time negotiations in the context of non-standard work schedules

Present-day parenting is centred round the question of time, especially in the case of working parents. This study analysed negotiations over time in families where one or both parents work non-standard schedules, that is, during evenings, nights and weekends. We asked what aspects of time are negotiable and with whom, and who in the family bears the ultimate responsibility for these negotiations. The analysis was based on interviews with 47 people conducted in 2013 in Finland. Mobility of the Singly-Charged Lanthanide and Actinide Cations: Trends and Perspectives

The current status of gaseous transport studies of the singly-charged lanthanide and actinide ions is reviewed in light of potential applications to superheavy ions. The measurements and calculations for the mobility of lanthanide ions in He and Ar agree well, and they are remarkably sensitive to the electronic configuration of the ion, namely, whether the outer electronic shells are 6s, 5d6s or 6s$^2$. The previous theoretical work is extended here to ions of the actinide family with zero electron orbital momentum: Ac$^+$ (7s$^2$, $^1$S), Am$^+$ (5f$^7$7s $^9$S$^\circ$), Cm$^+$ (5f$^7$7s$^2$ $^8$S$^\circ$), No$^+$ (5f$^{14}$7s $^2$S) and Lr$^+$ (5f$^{14}$7s$^2$ $^1$S). Search for superheavy elements in monazites using chemical enrichment

Evidence for the existence of superheavy elements in monazite inclusions embedded in Madagascan mica and surrounded by giant radioactive haloes was given by Gentry et al.1 who observed photons with energies corresponding to predicted Lα1 X-ray energies of element 126 (at 27.25 keV) and also of elements 116, 124 and 127 in irradiations of such crystals with collimated proton beams. For an unambiguous identification, the detection of further members of the L X-ray series would be most important. In X-ray spectra of monazite samples these transitions are buried under the strong K X-ray peaks of the lanthanide elements. Parental discourses of language ideology and linguistic identity in multilingual Finland

Finland is officially a bilingual country but it is in practice multilingual. In the current study, we examined how mothers and fathers of mixed-language families linguistically identified themselves and others, and how ideological discourses and concepts historically and socially situated in Finland circulated through the parents’ talk. The parents of three families in which at least Finnish, Swedish and English were used on a daily basis were interviewed.
