Tänä päivänä yhä useampaa suomalaista lapsiperhettä koskettavat vanhempien epäsäännölliset työajat 24 tuntia vuorokaudessa auki olevan yhteiskunnan vuoksi. Erityisiä haasteita epäsäännölliset työajat ja arjen rytmit aiheuttavat perheille, joissa on vain yksi vanhempi huolehtimassa arjesta ja lapsista. Young women’s contradictory expectations and their perceived capabilities for future work-family reconciliation in Finland

This paper explores young women’s expectations on future work-family reconciliation in Finland, a Nordic country well-known for the promotion of gender equality. Utilising Sen’s capabilities approach, we content-analysed thirty individual interviews to identify differences in women’s expectations and their perceived capabilities in future work and care. The results showed that irrespective of their labour market status and educational attainment, the women’s expectations were contradictory, reflecting a current Finnish gender culture that embraces both the ideal of shared parenthood and the primacy of maternal care. Tutkimuksessa tarkasteltiin perhemuodon, sisaruuden ja syntymäjärjestyksen yhteyttä lapsen saamaan hyväksyntään ikätovereiden keskuudessa ensimmäisellä luokalla. Tutkittavina oli 154 keskisuomalaista lasta yhdeksältä luokalta. Lapsen sosiaalista suosituimmuutta ja näkyvyyttä arvioitiin ensimmäisen luokan keväällä pyytämällä lapsia mainitsemaan luokkatovereita, joiden kanssa he viettävät mielellään aikaansa ja joiden kanssa he vastaavasti eivät mielellään vietä aikaansa. Stepmothers’ constructions and negotiations of belonging

Applying a narrative approach and symbolic interactionist frame of reference, this study examines how Finnish stepmothers in their written narratives construct and negotiate their belonging. Belonging is a relevant concept in this study since it focuses on social interaction and intersubjectivity, and their emotional content. Three types of belonging were identified: (a) restricted belonging, (b) dyadic stepmother–stepchild belonging and (c) the spousal relationship as a focal dyad of belonging.
