This study was done to describe the epidemiology of infectious diseases in children living in the old countries of the Federal Republic of Germany. After an intensive search for literature, data about notifiable diseases, data from insurance agencies and a random test from 700 charts of a general pediatrician were reviewed and analysed in a standardized way for their validity. No single review article on this topic was found. Estimates about the frequency of some specific infectious diseases as well as data about notifiable diseases proved to be unreliable and not useful from a scientific point of view. Abstract Background Management of ovarian cysts in infants is controversial; it can be conservative or surgical, and the management is determined by the cyst's size and sonographic features. Methods A surgical approach using a 10-mm umbilically placed operative laparoscope was taken in 3 female infants with antenatally diagnosed large, simple ovarian cysts. The contents of the cysts were partially aspirated and the cyst walls were stripped off the remaining ovarian parenchyma. No intraoperative or postoperative complications were recorded. Double toenail is a rare abnormality that usually affects the fifth toe. It is considered as an inherited condition that may represent an incomplete form of polydactyly. Underlying bone abnormalities should be ruled out. We present a case of a double toenail of the second toe, a location that has not previously been described, with underlying bone involvement noted on ultrasound and plain films.

Previous articles published in the European Paediatric Association (EPA) pages have discussed the importance of children's well-being and its role in different areas of children's health, such as well-child care and child-friendly health care. The goal of this commentary is to raise pediatricians' awareness on the risks of children's overexposure to digital media. It is important to protect the psychological and emotional health of children from uncontrolled external influences to preserve their well-being. We also emphasize the importance of alerting parents and tutors to the risks related to the unrefrained use of the Internet.

The purpose of this work is to provide new scientific data facilitating the differential diagnosis of a rare cardiac tumor with an unusual presentation, such as the cardiac inflammatory myofibroblastic tumor (IMT).Case Presentation: A 3-year-old male child presented with several symptoms including unconsciousness, vomiting, and drowsiness.
