A new methodology for automated extraction of repeated patterns in time-series data is presented, aimed in particular at the analysis of musical sequences. The basic principles consists in a search for closed patterns in a multi-dimensional parametric space. It is shown that this basic mechanism needs to be articulated with a periodic pattern discovery system, implying therefore a strict chronological scanning of the time-series data. Abstract This study analyses the interest margin in the principal European banking sectors (Germany, France, the United Kingdom, Italy and Spain) in the period 1993–2000 using a panel of 15,888 observations, identifying the fundamental elements affecting this margin. Grocery retail market concentration convergence in Eastern European and Baltic EU member states in 2010-2019

The paper analyses market concentration development in the Chech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia. It is determined that these countries have a converging market concentration tendency indicating a decrease in the competition level and becoming more homogeneous. At the same time there are strong indications for market concentration being linked also to retail turnover.

Summary The eel and human pathogen Vibrio vulnificus serovar E (biotype 2) is seldom isolated from natural waters, although it can survive in sterilized artificial seawater microcosms for years. The main objective of the present study was to investigate whether aquatic microbiota can limit its survival and recovery from water samples. A set of preliminary experiments of survival in microcosms containing natural seawater and water from eel farms showed that the persistence of this pathogen was mainly controlled by grazing, and secondarily by bacterial competition.
