Strukturelle Untersuchungen an Arsenbrackebuschit
1978
Critical phenomena originating magmatic rocks in western Sicily.
1984
The behaviour of a model magma in the vicinity of a critical region is in agreement with results of studies of structures in the melt in basaltic rocks from Sicily. The behaviour of ionic-non ionic fluid mixtures simulating a magma has been analysed in the light of results obtained recently with simple statistical mechanical approximations. It is suggested that the Sicilian magma is to be considered as an extremely rare natural example of two immiscible liquids having almost consolute composition.
Equilibrium and disequilibrium degassing of a phonolitic melt (Vesuvius AD 79 “white pumice”) simulated by decompression experiments
2007
Abstract Equilibrium and disequilibrium degassing of a volatile phase from a magma of K-phonolitic composition was investigated to assess its behavior upon ascent. Decompression experiments were conducted in Ar-pressurized externally heated pressure vessels at superliquidus temperature (1050 °C), in the pressure range 10–200 MPa using pure water as fluid phase. All experiments were equilibrated at 200 MPa and then decompressed to lower pressures with rates varying from 0.0028 to 4.8 MPa/s. Isobaric saturation experiments were performed at the same temperature and at 900–950 °C to determine the equilibrium water solubility in the pressure range 30–250 MPa. The glasses obtained from decompres…

The structure of a hydrothermal system from an integrated geochemical, geophysical, and geological approach: The Ischia Island case study
2011
The complexity of volcano-hosted hydrothermal systems is such that thorough characterization requires extensive and interdisciplinary work. We use here an integrated multidisciplinary approach, combining geological investigations with hydrogeochemical and soil degassing prospecting, and resistivity surveys, to provide a comprehensive characterization of the shallow structure of the southwestern Ischia's hydrothermal system. We show that the investigated area is characterized by a structural setting that, although very complex, can be schematized in three sectors, namely, the extra caldera sector (ECS), caldera floor sector (CFS), and resurgent caldera sector (RCS). This contrasted structura…

Zur Genese der Migmatite des Beaume-Tales (Mittlere Cvennen, Dp. Ardche)
1971
Samples of micaschists, gneisses, and migmatites from a sequence of metamorphic subfacies of the Gevennes Medianes (Dep. Ardeche, France) are characterized chemically by a) a high and only slightly varying Al2O3 content (m.v.=17.57 wt.-%, stand, dev.=1.804, var. coeff.=0.103). b) a negligible variation of the molar MgO/MgO+FeO ratio (m.v.=0.504, stand. dev.= 0.066, var. coeff.=0.130), and c) an insignificant variation of the molar CaO/CaO + Na2O ratio (m.v.=0.360, stand. dev.=0.014, var. coeff.=0.039).
Time of formation and peak of Variscan HP-HT metamorphism of quartz-feldspar rocks in the central Erzgebirge, Saxony, Germany
1998
The Variscan Erzgebirge represents an antiform with a core of gneisses and mica schists, surrounded by a phyllitic mantle. The Gneiss-Eclogite Unit (GEU), in the central part, is a composite tectonometamorphic assemblage characterized by a HP-HT imprint and comprises migmatitic para- and orthogneisses, HT mylonites, HP granulites, eclogites and garnet peridotites. It is tectonically sandwiched between two major units with distinctly lower PT histories. The GEU experienced a characteristic “kinked” retrograde PT path after HP-HT equilibration with: (1) strong near-isothermal decompression at high temperatures; (2) extensive re-equilibration at medium pressures, followed (3) by rapid cooling …
