VegItaly: The Italian collaborative project for a national vegetation database

Abstract Two years after its official start, the national vegetation database VegItaly, a collaborative project supported by the Italian scientific community and developed by a large group of scientists, is presented. This article offers a concise overview of the content of the database, currently consisting of 31,100 vegetation plot, including published and unpublished data. Some basic statistics are analysed; for example, data distribution in space and time, represented vegetation types expressed as physiognomic categories. Vegetation of screes of the montane and colline zones in the Pamir-Alai Mts in Tajikistan (Middle Asia)

This paper is the continuation of a survey of the scree vegetation in alpine landscapes of western Pamir-Alai Mts in Tajikistan. In total, 105 phytosociological relevés were collected in the colline and montane belt in 2012‒2014, applying the Braun-Blanquet method. Phytocoenoses inhabiting mobile or fairly stabilised screes of different sizes of rock particles in the montane and colline zone are herein described. A hierarchical syntaxonomic synopsis of scree communities in the western Pamir Alai Mts is provided. Występowanie Ricciocarpos natans (Marchantiophyta) na Śląsku

The occurrence of Ricciocarpos natans (L.) Corda in Silesia (SW Poland) is discussed in its geographical and phytosociological aspects. The paper lists localities of this species and indicates its occurrence in plant communities, with special attention to Ricciocarpetum natantis an association rare and threatened in Poland. Ricciocarpos natans is a fairly common species in Silesia, known from 70 stations. Patches of Ricciocarpetum natantis are documented from 11 localities.

European Vegetation Archive: now EVA really starts!

European Vegetation Archive (EVA) was announced as a new initiative of the European Vegetation Survey at the EVS Meeting in Vienna in 2012. The aim of EVA is to create a centralized database of European vegetation plots by storing copies of national and regional databases on a single software platform using a unified taxonomic reference database. EVA does not affect the ongoing independent developments of source data bases and it guarantees that data property rights of the original contributors are re spected. Naturalne zbiorniki wodne są w Europie bardzo cennymi obszarami pod względem florystycznym. Wśród nich ważne dla zachowania różnorodności biologicznej flory w Polsce są źródła. Niniejsza praca przedstawia pierwsze w Polsce stanowisko Potametum pectinati Carstensen 1955 z klasy Potametea w limnokrenowym źródle krasowym. Dotychczas zespól ten nie był notowany w tego typu siedlisku w Europie. W artykule przedstawiono skład florystyczny i wymagania ekologiczne tego zespołu.
