Job Resources and Work Engagement: Optimism as Moderator Among Finnish Managers

The aim of the present study was to investigate the moderating role of optimism in the relationship between job resources (organizational climate, job control) and work engagement among Finnish young managers (N = 747). Hierarchical regression analyses showed that both job resources and optimism exerted a positive effect on work engagement and its three dimensions of vigor, dedication, and absorption. The moderation results showed that optimism can diminish the negative impact of low job resources on work engagement. The aim of this study was to examine Liikunnan Riemu’s football team’s changes in cohesion during European Universities Sports Association Games in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The basis for this study was to quantitatively examine cohesion using Carron’s and his colleagues (1985) developed Group Environmental Questionnaire for sport teams. The GEQ is divided into four dimensions which describe cohesion more accurately. High cohesion has been shown to lead to success in sports and vice versa (Carron et al. 2002; Rovio 2009; Voight & Callaghan 2001). Tutkimuksessa tarkastellaan luokanopettajien kertomuksia merkittäviksi kokemistaan ammatilliseen kasvuun johtaneista tilanteista eli situaatioista ja pyritään tulkitsemaan niiden kautta syntyneitä opettajuuden oivalluksia. Lisäksi selvitetään, mitkä tekijät yksilön ympäristösuhteessa sekä toimintaympäristössä tukevat luokanopettajien ammatillista kasvua. Tilannekuvaksia tarkastelemalla pyritään myös hahmottamaan luokanopettajien asiantuntijuuden kehittymisen laatua. This doctoral thesis seeks to deepen the understanding of the factors that contribute to a firm’s growth from the perspective of the entrepreneur’s personality. The empirical data for this study was gathered through survey questionnaires distributed to members of entrepreneur organizations in Central Finland, Southern Ostrobothnia and Savonia (n=120, females 37%, males 63%, average age 50 years). The respondents were primarily founders of their own firms and approximately half worked in the service sector. Tutkielman tarkoitus oli kartoittaa ruotsinopettajien ajatuksia ääntämisen opetuksesta lukion suulli-sella kurssilla RuB6/RuA7 – Tala och förstå bättre sekä ääntämisen osuudesta kurssin arvioinnissa. Lisäksi tutkimuksessa tarkasteltiin ääntämisen osuutta kurssilla käytettävässä oppikirjassa Galleri 6. Tutkimus toteutettiin teemahaastatteluna ja tulokset analysoitiin kvalitatiivisen sisällönanalyysin menetelmin. Tutkimukseen osallistui yhteensä kuusi ruotsinopettajaa Keski-Suomesta ja Pirkan-maalta. Tutkimuksen tulokset osoittavat, että ääntämistä pidetään hyvin tärkeänä osana suullista kielitaitoa.
