There is evidence that naturally occurring antibodies directed against Aβ (nAbs-Aβ) have a role in Aβ-metabolism and Aβ-clearance. The presence of nAbs-Aβ leads to a reduction in amyloid fibrillation and thus a reduction in their toxicity. We investigated the effects of nAbs-Aβ in respect to oligomerization and used the Tg2576 transgenic mouse model in order to investigate the rapid effect with a single-dose (24 h) on oligomer breakdown and cytokine secretion along with immunohistochemical characterization of synaptic plasticity. nAbs-Aβ were able to reduce toxic oligomer concentration with an increase in Aβ-monomers. Sodium chloride (NaCl) has been extensively used as a material to develop, test and improve pressure solution (PS) rock deformation models. However, unlike silicate and carbonate rocks, NaCl can deform plastically at very low stresses (0.5 MPa). This could mean that NaCl is less suitable for use as an analogue for rocks that do not deform plastically at conditions where PS is important. Phenotypic variation is suggested to facilitate the persistence of environmentally growing pathogens under environmental change. Here, we hypothesized that the intensive farming environment induces higher phenotypic variation in microbial pathogens than natural environment, because of high stochasticity for growth and stronger survival selection compared to the natural environment. Energy-Residual-Based approach to gradient plasticity

The “energy-residual-based approach” mentioned in the title consists in a thermodynamically consistent procedure for the formulation of a phenomenological plasticity model of either strain gradient, or nonlocal (integral) type. The authors have developed this procedure on the last ten years. It seem therefore appropriate to present an update of this theory at this forum. For brevity we shell limit ourselves to strain gradient plasticity.
A link between the residual-based gradient plasticity theory and the analogous theories based on the virtual work principle

A link is shown to exist between the so-called residual-based strain gradient plasticity theory and the analogous theories based on the (extended) virtual work principle (VWP). To this aim, the former theory is reformulated and cast in a residual-free form, whereby the insulation condition and the (nonlocal) Clausius–Duhem inequality, on which the theory is grounded, are substituted with equivalent residual-free ingredients, namely the energy balance condition and the residual-free form of the Clausius–Duhem inequality. Abstract A thermodynamic framework, equipped with the concept of nonlocality (energy) residual, is utilized to address nonlocal/gradient internal variable material models. Abstract The present paper aims to develop a simple method based on inverse analysis that allows us to determine the laws of plastic flow coefficients and the friction coefficient between the material and punch. Selecting from different types of tests, we have chosen the Hecker test, because this test requires a single form of punch, the hemispherical one. In this test, the friction between the punch and the blank-sheet is caused by the blank-sheet strains and not by the movement it makes (as in deep drawing case).
