Comparison of platelet, leukocyte, and growth factor levels in point-of-care platelet-enriched plasma, prepared using a modified Curasan kit, with pr…
2003
Abstract The potential use of autologous thrombocytic growth factors to accelerate bone regeneration requires improved methods of isolating platelet-rich plasma (PRP). In addition to discontinuous cell separation, a second method by which PRP is produced at the point-of-care has now become available. In this study, growth factor levels in PRP from these two sources were compared. Whole blood was drawn from 115 healthy donors (73 males, 42 females) aged 21 - 62 years (mean 36, SD 10). The PRP was separated by the blood bank (BB) using the discontinuous cell separation method or at the 'point-of-care' by the so-called 'buffy coat' method (analogous to the Curasan PRP Kit). Growth factor conte…
Strategies for managing Asherman's syndrome and endometrial atrophy: Since the classical experimental models to the new bioengineering approach
2021
Endometrial function is essential for embryo implantation and pregnancy, but managing endometrial thickness that is too thin to support pregnancy or an endometrium of compromised functionality due to intrauterine adhesions is an ongoing challenge in reproductive medicine. Here, we review current and emerging therapeutic and experimental options for endometrial regeneration with a focus on animal models used to study solutions for Asherman's syndrome and endometrial atrophy, which both involve a damaged endometrium. A review of existing literature was performed that confirmed the lack of consensus on endometrial therapeutic options, though promising new alternatives have emerged in recent ye…

The efficacy of intra-articular PRP, ozone and ozone+PRP injections in patients with osteoarthritis
2018
Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common form of arthritis and some joints are effected more than others. The prevalence of OA increases with age and it represents the major problem for functional impairment in older patients. Non-surgical treatment with oral drugs is not suitable for many patients suffering from gastric disorders, high blood pressure or different heart diseases. Intra-articular injections are a promising solution in these cases.
This study was performed to compare the efficacy and safety of ozone injections, PRP (platelet rich plasma) injections and combined ozone plus PRP injections in patients with symptomatic knee OA.
120 patients were diagnosed of OA accordi…
Female Pattern Hair Loss and Androgen Excess: A Report From the Multidisciplinary Androgen Excess and PCOS Committee.
2018
OBJECTIVE To determine the current state of knowledge and provide evidence-based recommendations that could be valid for all specialists taking care of female pattern hair loss (FPHL), a common form of hair loss in women that is characterized by the reduction of hair density in the central area of the scalp, whereas the frontal hairline is generally well conserved. PARTICIPANTS An expert task force appointed by the Androgen Excess and PCOS Society, which included specialists from dermatology, endocrinology, and reproductive endocrinology. DESIGN Levels of evidence were assessed and graded from A to D. Peer-reviewed studies evaluating FPHL published through December 2017 were reviewed. Crite…

Background. Anticoagulant therapy, the cornerstone treatment in acute venous thromboembolism (VTE), strongly impacts thrombin generation (TG). Until now, the appearance of the TG curve in platelet rich plasma (PRP) from patients with acute VTE has not been investigated. Methods. We analyzed the shape of TG curves measured in PARP of 180 acute VTE patients. Results. Normal shape of TG curves was observed in 110 patients, 50 patients showed no TG and 20 patients showed biphasic TG curve. The linear regression analysis, adjusted for age, sex, VTE clinical phenotypes and therapy showed that the appearance of biphasic curves is significantly associated with female sex, presence of cancer and the…
Il trattamento chirurgico con vite cannulata e PRP della pseudoartrosi dello scafoide carpale
2013
Nonunion is an important complication of carpal navicular fractures. The aim of this study is to report the medium term results of a reconstruction technique with cannulated screw combined with Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) in Herbert fractures C (late consolidation), D1 (fibrous union without deformity) and D2 (pseudarthrosis with initial deformity).
