AbstractThe focus in this Finland-based study is on violence in close relationships—a term that partly overlaps with the more commonly used ‘domestic violence’, ‘family violence’ and ‘intimate partner violence’. We demonstrate how police officers’ conceptualisations of such violence differ from how it is defined in relevant legal documents. The data consists of the Government Bill and legal text on the subject issued as part of a legal reform enacted in 2010, and of a qualitative sample of freelist responses from 79 police officers. Further, police work is surrounded by multiple pressures to make it both economical and effective. Consequently, there are multiple institutional logics in decision-making which may affect the selection and the use of police key performance indicators (KPIs). How guilt or innocence is constructed in Finnish suspects written police records
 The present study focuses on written police records in Finland. The aim is to investigate how guilt or innocence is constructed in written police records. The research data contains 168 copy of suspects police records from Helsinki, Tampere and Turku police departments. Police records are being analyzed by using the discursive and linguistic approach. The results show that there are nine discursive categories in which guilt is constructed. Liitän lastensuojeluilmoituskäytäntöjä koskevan tutkimukseni lapsia, nuoria ja lapsiperhei-tä koskevan sosiaalisen kontrollin laajempaan murrokseen ja siirtymään 1990-luvun alku-puolella harjoitetusta hyvinvointipolitiikasta kohti 1990-luvun lopun ja 2000-luvun alun riskipolitiikkaa. Myöhäismodernille aikakaudelle on ominaista kasvava huoli, riskienhal-linta ja vastuuttava järjestyksenpitopolitiikka. Lapsia, nuoria ja lapsiperheitä koskeva huoli on lisääntynyt, toleranssi madaltunut ja reaktiivisuus lisääntynyt.
