AbstractEnteroviruses (EVs) are common RNA viruses that cause diseases ranging from rash to paralytic poliomyelitis. For example, EV-A and EV-C viruses cause hand-foot and mouth disease and EV-B viruses cause encephalitis and myocarditis, which can result in severe morbidity and mortality. While new vaccines and treatments for EVs are under development, methods for studying and diagnosing EV infections are still limited and therefore new diagnostic tools are required. alpha-Helical hairpins, consisting of a pair of closely spaced transmembrane (TM) helices that are connected by a short interfacial turn, are the simplest structural motifs found in multi-spanning membrane proteins. In naturally occurring hairpins, the presence of polar residues is common and predicted to complicate membrane insertion. We postulate that the pre-packing process offsets any energetic cost of allocating polar and charged residues within the hydrophobic environment of biological membranes. Virus infections can result in a variety of cellular injuries, and these often involve the permeabilization of host membranes by viral proteins of the viroporin family. Prototypical viroporin 2B is responsible for the alterations in host cell membrane permeability that take place in enterovirus-infected cells. 2B protein can be localized at the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and the Golgi complex, inducing membrane remodeling and the blockade of glycoprotein trafficking. Cieto poliuretānu putu iegūšana kriogēnai siltumizolācijai no ilgtspējīgiem polioliem

Darbā tika pētīta atjaunojamo resursu piemērotība poliuretānu materiālu sintēzē, daļēji aizstājot no naftas pārstrādes produktiem iegūtos poliolus ar polioliem, kas iegūti no tallu eļļas un pārstrādāta polietilēntereftalāta (PET). Polikondensācijas reakcijā starp izocianātiem un polioliem tika iegūti cieto poliuretānu putu materiāli, kuriem tālāk tika noteiktas fizikāli-mehāniskās īpašības, piemēram, šķietamais blīvums, siltumvadītspēja, slēgto poru saturs materiālā, adhēzija pret alumīnija virsmu un stiprība spiedē gan istabas temperatūrā, gan šķidrajā slāpeklī. Augsti funkcionālu poliolu sintēze no epoksidētas rapšu eļļas cieto poliuretānu putu izstrādāšanai

Darbā veikts literatūras apskats par dažādu veidu polioliem, to iegūšanas reakcijām un to raksturlielumu analīzes metodēm. Tika apskatīti poliētera, poliestera un no dabasvielām iegūtie polioli. Izpētīta rapšu eļļas epoksidēšanās reakcijas kinētika 55, 60, 65 oC. No rapšu eļļas tika iegūts epoksidācijas produkts, kuru modificēja ar dietanolamīnu, trietanolamīnu un dietilēnglikolu. Iegūtajiem polioliem tika noteikti to raksturlielumi un tika veikta to salīdzināšana. Iegūtie polioli papildus tika analizēti ar Furjē transformācijas infrasarkanās spektraskopijas (FTIR) metodi un gēla caurlaidības hromatogrāfiju (GPC).
