For the history of development of the Polish movement in Upper Silesia, the aid which inhabitants of Greater Poland (Wielkopolska) extended to Upper Silesians, beginning with the mid-19th century until the Interwar period, was of great import_ance. The former, coming from the lower middle-class (petit bourgeois) and intelligentsia backgrounds, got interested in Silesia in the time of the Spring of Nations. In the second half of the 19th century, their support for Silesia became strengthened, sińce they began settling down in this region. The aim of the present article is to present the typology of listening comprehension skills activated during Polish language lessons. What the author claims is that in Polish school two types of listening co-exist, namely: natural and activated. The former resembles conditions of natural communication, since a student assumes the role of text recipient, whereas the latter is a process of teaching the skills of listening comprehension. Based on questions and instructions elicited from selected school handbooks shows in what way the activated type of listening comprehension is taught as a part of Polish as a mother tongue lessons.

Artykuł ma charakter przeglądowy. Autor omawia społeczno-kulturowe podłoże zmian językowych wywołanych przez powojenne ruchy migracyjne, przesiedlenia ludności i przemiany społeczno-ustrojowe. Prezentuje poszczególne kategorie ludności, które zasiedliły Ziemie Zachodnie i Północne, pod względem demograficznym, kulturowym i językowym. Wskazuje na sytuację ludności autochtonicznej i jej rolę w procesie integracyjnym. Analizuje przyczyny i uwarunkowania zmian o charakterze ogólnopaństwowym, lokalnym i indywidualnym. Porusza zagadnienie definicji terminu integracja językowa i ewolucji tego pojęcia. Przedstawia rozwój metodologii i dokonania badawcze.

This article offers an interpersonal communication perspective on relational processes in a workplace affected by the international flow of labor migration. We investigate how temporary migrant workers and their foreign colleagues perceive developing interpersonal relationships with each other through an analysis of in-depth interviews with employees of a Finnish recruitment agency and Polish metal workers it has recruited. The recruitment agents talk about their relationships with the recruited Polish workers; the Polish workers also describe their relationships with their Finnish colleagues at the customer company. In the article, the multi-faceted cooperation between Poland and Bulgaria in the 1920s in the political, economic and cultural spheres is presented based on Polish archival materials. After the end of the First World War, Bulgarians wanted more equal relations with Poland, because they wanted Poland to be an advocate of Bulgaria. The motto of Polish Balkan policy was, above all, cooperation with Romania in the event of a war threat from Soviet Russia (later USSR).
