Prenatal air pollution exposure and growth and cardio-metabolic risk in preschoolers

Objectives: We investigated the association between outdoor air pollutants exposure in the first trimester of pregnancy, and growth and cardio-metabolic risk at four years of age, and evaluated the mediating role of birth weight. Methods: We included mother-child pairs (N = 1,724) from the Spanish INMA birth cohort established in 2003-2008. First trimester of pregnancy nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and fine particles (PM2.5) exposure levels were estimated. A CNN Adaptive Model to Estimate PM10 Monitoring

In this work we introduce a model for studying the distribution and control of atmospheric pollution from PM10. The model is based on the use of a cellular neural network (CNN) and more precisely on the integration of the mass-balance equation; at the same time it simulates the scenario regarding a planar grid describing the whole studied area (the city of Palermo) by means of a CNN and a set of Bayesian networks. Chronic toxicity of diazinon todaphnia magna:Effects on survival, reproduction and growth

The sublethal effect of 0.15, 0.18, 0.22, 0.25 and 0.30 μg/L diazinon on the survival, reproduction and growth of D. magna was monitored for 21 days. Neonates (≤ 24 h) were obtained from the stock cultures and raised individually in 50 mL glass beakers. All daphnids were transfered every other day to a new beaker containing fresh medium, food and the appropriate pesticide concentration. Primero estudiamos un efecto macro de las interacciones entre la configuración institucional que externaliza la FDI y las instituciones locales. La FDI externalizará positivamente las instituciones de origen cuando proviene de economías de mercado más coordinadas, mientras que las instituciones locales juegan diversos roles y contrarrestan los efectos negativos de la FDI de otro origen. Dry chlorination of spent nickel metal hydride battery waste for water leaching of battery metals and rare earth elements

An efficient leaching process was developed for nickel, cobalt, and the rare earth elements (REEs) from spent nickel metal hydride (NiMH) battery waste. The process involves dry chlorination with ammonium chloride in low temperature to produce water-soluble chlorinated compounds, followed by simple water leaching. The factors affecting the conversion and solubilization were studied, including the amount of ammonium chloride, residence time and temperature in dry chlorination, and solid to liquid ratio, time and temperature in water leaching.
