Many trematode cercariae show distinct behavioral features, which have commonly been used in species identification in combination with morphological characteristics. The Russian State Archives of Historical Records in Moscow (Российский государственный архив древних актор) contains a group No. 1587, which the institutions resource list calls ‘Collection of Autographs Gathered by Princes Żagań.’ The article describes the history of the library of the dukes of Żagań in the 19th century, including the creation of a collection of manuscripts. This collection is of a particular importance as a testimony to the finał years of the Duchy of Courland and Semigalia and the extensive family ties of the princes of Żagań. In March 1939, the Czech State Archive in Opava (Zemsky Archiv v Opave), temporarily renamed Landesarchiv, was transformed into Reichsarchiv Torppau, one of the two higher level archives established in lands annexed to the Third Reich on the basis of the Munich Agreement. Its basie aim was to document the history of the so-called Sudetenland, with particular consideration of the role of the German nation in its civilization development. This task was to be supervised by the new head of the archive, Walther Klemens Latzke from Vienna, a historian and archivist, a declared Nazi and a member of the NSDAP sińce 10 December 1931. The present article focuses on Polish motifs in Sofya Kovalevskaya’s recollections. Kovalevskaya was a great 19th century Russian mathematician whose contributions were acknowledged throughout Europę during her lifetime. She was the first European woman to receive a doctorate in mathematics from the University of Gottingen, a professor at Stockholm University in Sweden, and the first female corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Besides her scientific activities, Kovalevskaya was also a writer and publicist. She is the author of a number of novels, poems, a play and autobiographical Recollections of Childhood.
