"In den Tiefen wird alles Gesetz"… Przyczynek do dziejów literackiego motywu jaskini

2020

In the course of history, the cave, a natural geological void, has acquired its semantic richness in anthropology, religion, philosophy and culture, its major connotation relating to the journey to the inside of the Earth. In the literature from the ancient times up to the present we can distinguish various realizations of the motifs of the nether regions, caves, grottos or caverns, but out of this variety emerge three basic symbolic orientations: “the caves of subconscious”, “the grottos of birth” and “the metaphysical caverns”. The overview of the most interesting examples of the classic and contemporary European epic works (A. Pope’s The Rape of the Lock; J. W. Goethe’s Faust; A. Stifter…

Poriferan survivin exhibits a conserved regulatory role in the interconnected pathways of cell cycle and apoptosis

2010

Survivin orchestrates intracellular pathways during cell division and apoptosis. Its central function as mitotic regulator and inhibitor of cell death has major implications for tumor cell proliferation. Analyses in early-branching Metazoa so far propose an exclusive role of survivin as a chromosomal passenger protein, whereas only later during evolution a complementary antiapoptotic function might have arisen, concurrent with increased organismal complexity. To lift the veil on the ancestral function(s) of this key regulator, a survivin-like protein (SURVL) of one of the earliest-branching metazoan taxa was identified and functionally characterized. SURVL of the sponge Suberites domuncula …

Robotic versus laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy for apical prolapse: a case-control study

2016

The apical prolapse has always been considered the most complex of the defects of the pelvic floor, for both the difficulty of the surgical corrective technique and for the high post-surgical recurrence rate. Today, the laparoscopic sacrocolpopexy can be considered the standard treatment for apical prolapse. In the last years, several author performed robotic sacrocolpopexy, obtaining positive results. So, we developed a case-control study in order to compare the surgical outcome of robotic group with a control group of laparoscopic approach in patients with symptomatic apical pro-lapsed between January 2015 and December 2015 at University Hospital Policlinico “P. Giaccone” and Ospedali Riu…

Ubertino da Corleone

2020

Studiò teologia a Londra, Oxford, Parigi, fu lettore a Pisa e Padova. In seguito, divenne vescovo d…

Bakteriālās fermentācijas produktu lipopeptīdu noteikšanas iespējas, izmantojot hromatogrāfijas – masspektrometrijas metodi

2018

Towards a fully synthetic MUC1-based anticancer vaccine: efficient conjugation of glycopeptides with mono-, di-, and tetravalent lipopeptides using c…

2011

Abstract The membrane-bound tumor-associated glycoprotein MUC1 is aberrantly glycosylated in cancer cells compared with normal cells, and is therefore considered an attractive target for cancer immunotherapy. However, tumor-associated glycopeptides from MUC1 do not elicit a sufficiently robust immune response. Therefore, antitumor vaccines were developed, which consist of MUC1 glycopeptides as the B epitopes and immune-stimulating toll-like receptor 2 (TLR 2) lipopeptide ligands. These fully synthetic vaccine candidates were prepared by solid-phase synthesis of the MUC1 glycopeptides. The Pam(3) Cys lipopeptide, also synthesized on solid-phase, was C-terminally coupled to oligovalent lysine…
