Popliteal Artery Aneurysm Repair in the Endovascular Era: Fourteen-Years Single Center Experience

Abstract To compare outcomes of popliteal artery aneurysm (PAA) repair by endovascular treatment, great saphenous vein (GSV) bypass, and prosthetic bypass. Single center retrospective analysis of patients presenting PAA from 2000 to 2013. Patients were divided into endovascular treatment (group A); GSV bypass (group B); and prosthetic graft bypass (group C). Outcomes were technical success, perioperative mortality, and morbidity. The DETOUR procedure: no more need for conventional bypass surgery?

Background Long segment occlusive disease in the superficial femoral artery remains a treatment challenge despite advances in open surgical and endovascular approaches. We report initial clinical results of an entirely new procedure to perform percutaneous femoro-popliteal bypass using the DETOUR System. When autologous vein is not suitable synthetic or biological prostheses may be considered. The effects of linearly increasing flip angles on 3D inflow MR angiography

As recently demonstrated, spin saturation effects in 3D time-of-flight (TOF) MR angiography (MRA) can be reduced by using RF pulses with linearly increasing flip angles (ramp pulses) in the main direction of flow. We developed a model for calculating the signal distribution of proton flow within the excitation volume (slab) for different ramp slopes and compared the results with the measured distribution for the lower-leg arteries. The ramp pulses were generated using the Fourier transformation of the desired excitation profiles. Simultaneous endovascular treatment of multiple peripheral aneurysms

A 69-year-old man with a history of hypertension and severe pulmonary disease had asymptomatic bilateral common iliac and popliteal artery aneurysms. A bifurcated Talent and two Wallgraft stent-grafts were deployed via open femoral arteriotomies to exclude the aneurysms, respectively. The patient had an uncomplicated recovery, with no transfusion need; the hospital stay was 4 days. After a 5-year follow-up, no complication or endoleak has been detected, with patency of endografts and a mean decrease of 15% in aneurysm transverse diameters.
