The objective of this study is to conduct a stylistic analysis of the synopses publicized in the end-of-the-year ranking list of 2017 scientific “breakthroughs” from Science Magazine. The article provides a review of literature on science popularization (also known as science accommodation) and presents the typology of news values and rationalization cues that are used by editors to make science-related coverage both newsworthy and credible at the same time. The article lists the possible ways in which scientific findings can be stylistically constructed as “breakthroughs”. Šis darbs ir izveidots, lai noteiktu visplašāk izmantotos stāstījuma žanrus izvēlētajās ar zinātni saistītājās TEDxRiga runās, kā arī salīdzinātu tajās atrodamās popularizācijas diskursa valodas raksturiezīmes, kuras iegūtas šī darba veidošanas laikā, ar Mattiello (2017) pētījumu, kas veikts saistībā ar citām TED runām. Pētījumā izmantotā metode ir satura analīze. Pētījuma rezultāti liecina, ka stāstījumi ir neatņemama TED runu žanra sastāvdaļa un atstāstījumi ir visplašāk izmantotais stāstījumu žanrs analizētājās runās. Assessing game experience by means of recordings of physiological reactions elicited during game play is a technique that has gained popularity in recent years in the field of digital games research. However, since physiological signals are typically linked to several psychological processes, the use of some measures such as cardiac activity or heart rate (HR) remains problematic.
