In the first half of the twentieth century, the north-western lowlands of imperial Ethiopia were the typical interstitial frontier of the Ethiopian–Sudanese borderlands. Starting in the early 1960s, a cash crop revolution paved the way to the transformation of the Mazega into a settlement frontier and the emergence of a dispute with Sudan for demarcation of the international border. The role of fans in football governance is a topic of increasing academic and political interest. This article offers a quantitative approach to investigate supporters’ opinions of governance structures in European football. It asks whether fans trust governing bodies, clubs, leagues and other stakeholders currently in charge of football governance. It also investigates the extent to which fans consider they should have a direct say on how football clubs are governed. Human resource development roles and competencies in five European countries

This article compares HRD practitioners’ self-assessments based on their work roles, outputs and competencies from England, the Netherlands, Italy, Germany and Finland. The comparison is based on results produced by European surveys conducted between 1992–96, which adopted their model from an earlier study of HRD practitioners in the USA. In terms of work roles, the findings showed the culture-bound nature of HRD work and also, through the appearance of new work roles, its close relation to changes in working life. Previous studies have analyzed transfer of RNA-encoded tumor-associated antigens (TAAs) into immature dendritic cells (DCs) because of their exceptional ability to internalize antigens. Concerns have been raised regarding the use of immature DCs in clinical studies because of their capacity to tolerize T cells. Aims: To finalize an effective and reproducible electroporation procedure to transform Oenococcus oeni ATCC BAA-1163 strain. Methods and Results: The vector pGID052 was selected to optimize the electroporation procedure. Transformation efficiency was 5·8 × 103 per μg of DNA. Transformation was improved when competent cells were prepared with exponential phase cultures; optimum electroporation parameters were an electric pulse of 12·5 kV cm−1, under a resistance of 200 Ω and the presence of 10% (v/v) ethanol in the electroporation buffer (EPB).
