Metal‐organic frameworks (MOFs) have raised a lot of interest, especially as adsorbing materials, because of their unique and well‐defined pore structures. One of the main challenges in the utilization of MOFs is their crystalline and powdery nature, which makes their use inconvenient in practice. Three‐dimensional printing has been suggested as a potential solution to overcome this problem. We used selective laser sintering (SLS) to print highly porous flow‐through filters containing the MOF copper(II) benzene‐1,3,5‐tricarboxylate (HKUST‐1). Étude d'inclusions végétales dans des tessons de poterie ou des matériaux de construction

Vegetal inclusions embedded in clayey materials (cob, ceramic, mudbrick) are investigated by using impregnation of the porous material with a fluorescent polymer. The micro-casting of the porosity is exploited by following two ways. Sections of the treated samples are examined under UV-light, showing vegetal structures amenable to a botanical identification and quantification. Moreover, micro-casts embedded in the mineral matrix have been successfully sorted. This new application is a tool to study archaeological samples previously not amenable to the work of archaeobotanists and to expand their field of investigation.

International audience; A hydrogen-bonded open framework with pores decorated by pyridyl groups was constructed by off-charge-stoichiometry assembly of protonated tetrakis(4-pyridyloxymethyl)methane and [Al(oxalate)(3)](3-), which are the H-bond donor and acceptor of ionic H-bond interactions, respectively. This supramolecular porous architecture (SPA-2) has 1nm-large pores interconnected in 3D with large solvent-accessible void (53%). Sponge‐Like Behaviour in Isoreticular Cu(Gly‐His‐X) Peptide‐Based Porous Materials

We report two isoreticular 3D peptide-based porous frameworks formed by coordination of the tripeptides Gly-L-His-Gly and Gly-L-His-L-Lys to Cu(II) which display sponge-like behaviour. These porous materials undergo structural collapse upon evacuation that can be reversed by exposure to water vapour, which permits recovery of the original open channel structure. This is further confirmed by sorption studies that reveal that both solids exhibit selective sorption of H2 O while CO2 adsorption does not result in recovery of the original structures. Dynamics of hydrofracturing and permeability evolution in layered reservoirs

International audience; A coupled hydro-mechanical model is presented to model fluid driven fracturing in layered porous rocks. In the model the solid elastic continuum is described by a discrete element approach coupled with a fluid continuum grid that is used to solve Darcy based pressure diffusion. The model assumes poro-elasto-plastic effects and yields real time dynamic aspects of the fracturing and effective stress evolution under the influence of excess fluid pressure gradients. Compost Amendment Impact on Soil Physical Quality Estimated from Hysteretic Water Retention Curve

Capacity-based indicators of soil physical quality (SPQ) and pore distribution parameters were proposed to assess the effects of compost amendment but their determination was limited to desorption water retention experiments. This study also considered the pore size distribution obtained from adsorption experiments to establish the effectiveness of compost amendment in modifying the physical and hydrological attributes of a sandy loam soil. The Effect of Electrolytic Solution Composition on the Structure, Corrosion, and Wear Resistance of PEO Coatings on AZ31 Magnesium Alloy

Plasma electrolytic oxidation coatings were prepared in aluminate, phosphate, and silicate-based electrolytic solutions using a soft-sparking regime in a multi-frequency stepped process to compare the structure, corrosion, and wear characteristics of the obtained coatings on AZ31 magnesium alloy. The XRD results indicated that all coatings consist of MgO and MgF2, while specific products such as Mg2SiO4, MgSiO3, Mg2P2O7, and MgAl2O4 were also present in specimens based on the selected solution. Surface morphology of the obtained coatings was strongly affected by the electrolyte composition.
