Constraints on an additional Z′ gauge boson versus the W, the top and the Higgs masses

Abstract We analyse the restrictions on the mass and the mixing of an additional Z′ gauge boson that follow from the recent LEP measurements taking into account standard model (SM) radiative corrections. We find that these restrictions depend sharply on the assumed values for the SM structural parameters, the most important of which are M w and m top . The constraints become stronger for lighter W and heavier top.

Theoretical results on the double positron decay of 106Cd

Abstract Theoretical results for the double positron decay of 106 Cd are presented. The calculated values for the lateral single-beta-decay feeding patterns and electromagnetic transitions leading to states in 106 Cd and 106 Pd are discussed and compared to the data. The results on the double positron decay of 106 Cd are compared to new experimental limits. Based on the results of the present calculations, we report on the possibility of detecting the EC/EC or the β + /EC decay modes to final J π =0 + states using the improved sensitivity of the planned measurements.

Observation ofη′→ωe+e−

2015

Based on a sample of eta' mesons produced in the radiative decay J/psi -> gamma eta' in 1.31 x 10(9) J/psi events collected with the BESIII detector, the decay eta' -> omega e(+)e(-) is observed for the first time, with a statistical significance of 8 sigma. The branching fraction is measured to be B(eta' -> omega e(+)e(-)) = (1.97 +/- 0.34(stat) +/- 0.17(syst)) x 10(-4), which is in agreement with theoretical predictions. The branching fraction of eta' -> omega gamma is also measured to be (2.55 +/- 0.03(stat) +/- 0.16(syst)) x 10(-2), which is the most precise measurement to date, and the relative branching fraction B(eta' -> omega e(+)e(-))/B(eta' -> omega gamma) is determined to be (7.7…

Study ofB→X(3872)K, withX(3872)→J/ψπ+π−

We present measurements of the decays B+ -> X(3872) K+ and B0 -> X(3872) K0 with X(3872) -> Jpsi pi+ pi-. The data sample used, collected with the BABAR detector at the PEP-II e+e- asymmetric-energy storage ring, corresponds to 455 x 10^6 BBbar pairs. Branching fraction measurements of BF(B+ -> X(3872) K+) x BF(X(3872) -> Jpsi pi+ pi-) = (8.4 +/- 1.5 +/- 0.7) x 10^{-6} and BF(B0 -> X(3872) K0) x BF(X(3872) -> Jpsi pi+ pi- = (3.5 +/- 1.9 +/- 0.4) x 10^{-6} are obtained. We set an upper limit on the natural width of the X(3872) of Gamma < 3.3 MeV/c^2 at the 90% confidence level.

Observation and polarization measurement ofB0→a1(1260)+a1(1260)−decay

We present measurements of the branching fraction B and longitudinal polarization fraction fL for B0→a1(1260)+a1(1260)- decays, with a1(1260)±→π-π+π±. The data sample, collected with the BABAR detector at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, represents 465×106 produced BB pairs. We measure B(B0→a1(1260)+a1(1260)-)×[B(a1(1260)+→π-π+π+)]2= (11.8±2.6±1.6)×10-6 and fL=0.31±0.22±0.10, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. The decay mode is measured with a significance of 5.0 standard deviations including systematic uncertainties.

Observation ofB0→χc0K*0and evidence forB+→χc0K*+

We present the observation of the decay B0 -> chi_c0K*0 as well as evidence of B+ -> chi_c0K*+, with an 8.9 and a 3.6 standard deviation significance, respectively, using a data sample of 454 million Y(4S) -> BB decays collected with the BaBar detector at the PEP-II B meson factory located at the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center (SLAC). The measured branching fractions are: B(B0 -> chi_c0K*0) = (1.7 +/- 0.3 +/- 0.2) * 10^{-4} and B(B+ -> chi_c0K^*+) = (1.4 +/- 0.5 +/- 0.2) * 10^{-4}, where the first quoted errors are statistical and the second are systematic. We obtain a branching fraction upper limit of B(B+ -> chi_c0K*+) < 2.1 * 10^{-4} at the 90% confidence level.

Observation of the rare η→e+e−e+e− decay with the KLOE experiment

Abstract We report the first observation of the rare η → e + e − e + e − ( γ ) decay based on 1.7 fb − 1 collected by the KLOE experiment at the DAΦNE ϕ-factory. The selection of the e + e − e + e − final state is fully inclusive of radiation. We have identified 362 ± 29 events resulting in a branching ratio of ( 2.4 ± 0.2 stat + bckg ± 0.1 syst ) × 10 − 5 .

Search for the decay modesD0→e+e−,D0→μ+μ−, andD0→e±μ∓

We present searches for the rare decay modes D^0→e^+e^-, D^0→μ^+μ^-, and D^0→e^±μ^∓ in continuum e^+e^-→cc events recorded by the BABAR detector in a data sample that corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 468  fb^(-1). These decays are highly Glashow–Iliopoulos–Maiani suppressed but may be enhanced in several extensions of the standard model. Our observed event yields are consistent with the expected backgrounds. An excess is seen in the D^0→μ^+μ^- channel, although the observed yield is consistent with an upward background fluctuation at the 5% level. Using the Feldman–Cousins method, we set the following 90% confidence level intervals on the branching fractions: B(D^0→e^+e^-)<1.7×10^…

Measurement of the η→3π0 slope parameter α with the KLOE detector

Abstract We present a measurement of the slope parameter α for the η → 3 π 0 decay, with the KLOE experiment at the DAΦNE ϕ -factory, based on a background free sample of ∼17 million η mesons produced in ϕ radiative decays. By fitting the event density in the Dalitz plot we determine α = − 0.0301 ± 0.0035 stat − 0.0035 + 0.0022 syst . The result is in agreement with recent measurements from hadro- and photo-production experiments.

Search for decays of the Z0 into a photon and a pseudoscalar meson

Abstract A search is reported for decays of the Z 0 into π 0 γ , ηγ and η ′ (958) γ in e + e − collisions using data collected during a scan around the Z 0 mass. In order to search for π 0 γ final states, in which the two photons from the π 0 decay are unresolved, the production of pairs of high-energy electromagnetic clusters is studied. The data are compared with the expectations from the pure QED process e + e − → γγ , and a 95% confidence level upper limit on the branching ratio of the Z 0 into π 0 γ of 4.9 × 10 −4 is derived. For η′γ, the decay modes of the mesons that contain two charged particles are largely free from QED background. These modes are used to place upper limits of 4.6 …
