408 Positional cerebral ischemia (PCI) is an extremely rare condition in which dramatic central nervous system deficits are triggered by standing in patients with severe stenosis or occlusion of the major brain-supplying blood vessels [1] . In patients with hemispheric stroke, abnormal motor performances are described also in the ipsilateral limbs. They may be due to a cortical reorganization in the unaffected hemisphere; moreover, also peripheral mechanisms may play a role. To explore this hypothesis, we studied motor performances in 15 patients with hemispheric stroke and in 14 patients with total knee arthroplasty, which have a reduced motility in the prosthesized leg. Infantile postural asymmetry and osteopathic treatment: a randomized therapeutic trial

The aim of this study was to assess the therapeutic efficacy of osteopathic treatment in infants with postural asymmetry. A randomized clinical trial of efficacy with blinded videoscoring was performed. Sixty-one infants with postural asymmetry aged 6 to 12 weeks (mean 9wks) were recruited. Thirty-two infants (18 males, 14 females) with a gestational age of at least 36 weeks were found to be eligible and randomly assigned to the intervention groups, 16 receiving osteopathic treatment and 16 sham therapy. The postural vertical of patients and controls was analysed comparatively using a self-regulated balancing task, performed in sitting posture. Patients displayed a quite constant (19/22) contralesional tilt of the postural vertical (mean -2.6 degrees), varying with the severity of their spatial neglect and hemianaethesia.
