Multidisciplinary peer-mentoring groups facilitating change?

This article discusses the potential of multidisciplinary peer-mentoring groups to facilitate individual and institutional change. To do this, we view peer mentoring as a form of critical education praxis (Mahon et al. 2019), the purpose of which is to create a space for reflexive thinking and asking critical questions. To adapt all-immersive digitalization, the Finnish National Curriculum 2014 (FNC-2014) ‘digi-jumps’ by integrating programming into elementary education. However, applying the change to mathematics teachers’ everyday praxis is hindered by a too high-level specification. To elaborate FNC-2014 into more concrete learning targets, we review the computer science syllabi of countries that are well ahead, as well as the education recommendations set by computer science organizations, such as ACM and IEEE. Jean-Paul Sartre’s Critique de la raison dialectique consists of two tomes: La théorie des ensembles pratiques (published in 1960) and L’intelligibilité de l’histoire (published posthumously in 1985). The first tome includes two books: De la «praxis» individuelle au pratico-inerte and Du groupe à l’histoire. Thus Jean-Paul Sartre combines existentialism and historical materialism, referring to the concepts of praxis and of history. The concept of history is the main theme of his work, and it can be understood as a dialectical process in the complex system of the human relationships.

Three orientations for understanding educational autonomy: school principals’ voices from Australia, Finland, and Jamaica

This paper reports on the findings from a multi-site case study conducted in Australia, Finland and Jamaica which explored the conditions that enabled and constrained the autonomy of school principals. Systematic data collection was carried out in the form of interviews of school principals and the data was analysed using a qualitative approach. Psychological Research on Martial Artists

In this article, we problematize sport psychology research on martial artists and offer some suggestions for advancing our knowledge in this area of research and practice. First, we review the previous research in the field. Then we introduce “cultural praxis” as a theoretical framework that will guide our analysis. Finally, we engage sociological studies of female fighters in conjunction with the adopted theoretical lens to outline the limitations of sport psychological research with regards to the experiences of women.
