Comprehension of complex animation : cueing, segmentation and 2D / 3D presentations
2011
The goal of our studies was to test the effect of segmentation, cueing, and 2D/3D presentations to foster complex animation rocessing. The material was an upright mechanical piano system. We used an eye tracking system which provides information about learners’ attention direction during the animation processing. We analyzed the effect of the format presentations and the eye movements during learning. Based on animation and multimedia research background, four experiments were conducted. In the first experiment the effect of the presentation of simplified external representations on learning from complex animation was investigated. Experiment two and three aimed at studying the cognitive pr…

Measuring Distraction at the Levels of Tactical and Strategic Control: The Limits of Capacity-Based Measures for Revealing Unsafe Visual Sampling Mod…
2011
The control theory of driving suggests that driver distraction can be analyzed as a breakdown of control at three levels. Common approach for analyzing distraction experimentally is to utilize capacity-based measures to assess distraction at the level of operational control. Three driving simulation experiments with 61 participants were organized to evaluate which kind of measures could be used to analyze drivers' tactical visual sampling models and the related effects of distraction while searching textual information on in-car display. The effects of two different text types were evaluated. The utilized capacity-based measures seemed to be insufficient for revealing participants' tactical…
From alternative representations to prospective visions. The administrative subdivisions in Palermo (Italy)
2016
Alternative representations of the city are not only a useful analysis tool, but they also provide elements of a conceived new version of lived space that can contribute to ameliorate the spatial justice of the city. This is even truer for intra-local spaces that are the reference scale for many public participation policies, grass-root projects and activists. In this paper, we present the case of Palermo where the administrative subdivisions of the urban space have been imposed – because of legislation about administrative decentralisation – on the historical and perceived ones. Alternative mapping shows intra-local spaces as places of identity definition and civic engagement. In our paper…
Didáctica de las ciencias experimentales y sociales
2005
ABSTARCT: Thi…
A266 AMYLASE TRYPSIN INHIBITORS FROM WHEAT EXACERBATE GLUTEN-INDUCED PATHOLOGY AND ALTER GUT MICROBIOTA IN MICE
2018
BACKGROUND: Celiac disease (CeD) is an autoimmune enteropathy triggered by gluten in genetically susceptible individuals expressing HLA DQ2 or DQ8. The adaptive immune response is characterized by a gluten-specific T-cells, anti-gluten and anti-tissue transglutaminase-2 antibodies. Proliferation and activation of intraepithelial lymphocytes (IELs) is central to the innate immune response, although the triggers and receptors remain unclear. Amylase trypsin inhibitors (ATIs) are pest-resistant molecules in modern wheat with TLR4-activating capacities in mononuclear phagocytic cells. AIMS: Our aim was to determine whether ATIs act as innate activators, enhancing gluten immunopathology in mice.…
1994
The consultation of twelve journals (French and English language) that deal with science education, for the years 1991 to 1993, allowed us to summarize the use of spatial representations of scientific concepts in didactics research. Two main results were produced from this study : there has not been much work published with spatial representations, and what has been published is very heterogeneous. Analysis of this diversity does not always allow us to understand the authors’ objectives and obliges researchers in didactics to think about the nature and role of spatial representations in the construction of scientific knowledge.
The culinary act in everyday life : definition and pilot study
2017
International audience; Cooking at home, according to studies, newspapers and social networks, has become increasingly popular. This is in opposition with the reduction of time spent in culinary preparation. While health discourses advocate consumer responsibility and invite them to consume a more balanced diet, we question the place of cooking in everyday life in France. The culinary act is a cycle of actions that leads to the realization of the desired dish. It is an integral part of the food act. A cycle starts either when you find an idea or a recipe, or when selecting the ingredients. These actions are followed by the realization of the recipe, by technical means, and by conceptual and…
