Robotic Process Automation and Consequences for Knowledge Workers; a Mixed-Method Study

2020

Part 2: Fourth Industrial Revolution; International audience; This paper explores an overly optimistic and tenacious claim in the literature that robotic process automation (RPA) will only free knowledge workers from mundane tasks and introduce more interesting work. We explore this claim and other consequences for knowledge workers using data from a sequential quantitative-qualitative, mixed-method study in Norway. 88 RPA users from different sectors and industries where first surveyed to identify differences in utilization and effects from RPA. Then, differences were explored in 24 in-depth interviews in the public and private sectors, including financial industry, manufacturing, and oil …

African Law in Action

2014

AbstractThis article discusses the issue of the effectiveness of law in Africa, looking at it from a perspective different from those commonly used in dealing with this theme. It proposes an analysis of the interactions between traditional, religious and official law in the course of the historical development of African law through the lens of the stratigraphic method. The analysis takes into consideration the different legal layers that have been posed upon each other. The work focuses on areas of law that are not commonly considered in this regard; in addition, the discourse is conducted using examples taken from jurisdictions that are not normally present in debates on African law. Franchisors' disclosure duty: market transparency and franchisee protection

2014

The franchisee is usually the most vulnerable part of the franchise relationship, and should therefore receive greater protection from the legal framework. In this regard, the franchisor's pre-contractual disclosure duty has evolved in its legal status. Whereas its original purpose was to ensure transparency in the market, it now serves to protect the franchisee. In this paper, we compare the franchisor's obligations established by the legal framework in Spain with those set out in the Model Law drawn up by The International Institute for the Unification of Private Law.

The beginning of the modernist novel is been manifested by the increasing interest in t…

SISTEMI VERDI COME CULTURA RIGENERATIVA: STRUMENTI E TECNOLOGIE

2021

The study analyzes and proposes in the historical and in the area immediately to it adjacent, the "values-nature" of the buildings through the creation of gardens wall and vertical gardens in the elevatiloy of non-monumental buildings. The study deepens in particular the specificity of the garden roof and the garden vertical, recognizing benefits and critical issues that distinguish these green systems for construction. It also deepens the concept of resilience in close relationship sustainability and regenerative design applied to the built environment. The theme of regenerative design is studied and promoted as an adaptive strategy at the design stage; it requires you to leave nature stre…

Settore ICAR/12 - Tecnologia Dell'Architettura

Backing out of private pension provision - Lessons from Germany

2012

Financing pensions in the EU is a challenge. Many EU countries introduced private pension schemes to compensate declining public pension levels due to reforms made necessary by demographic change. In 2001, Germany introduced the Riester pension. Ten years after introduction the prevalence rate of this voluntary private pension scheme approximates 37 %. However, numerous criticisms raise doubts that the market for Riester products is transparent. Using the 2010 German SAVE survey, this article investigates terminated and dormant Riester contracts on a household level for the first time. Respectively 14.5 and 12.5 % of households who own or have owned a Riester contract terminated or set dorm…

2011

Masteroppgave i offentlig politikk og ledelse- Universitetet i Agder 2011 The aim of this study is to analyze how leaders apply different leadership styles.
