Landscape management and economic evaluation of the ecosystem services of the vineyards
2021
<p>The contribution aims to highlight the relationship between the business economy applied to viticulture and the ecosystem. The concepts of ecosystem services and viticultural biodiversity are seen in order to provide a new perspective for the development of a more sustainable business management. The work contributes to enriching the economic literature by introducing the relationship between ecosystem and business. The new perspective helps to place the company within the wider ecological-social system, favoring a more consistent interpretation of the relationship of exchange (impact and dependence) of resources with nature. The work proposes a methodology for cal…
Effetti “inibitori” della interdittiva antimafia e bilanciamento fra principi costituzionali: alcune questioni di legittimità dedotte in una recente …
2021
Moving from a very recent order of submission to the Italian Constitutional Court, the paper analyses some of the critical profiles that – in the last years – are related to the institute if the s.c. “interdittiva antimafia” (i.e. “anti-mafia interdictive), among the wider discipline provided against the organized crime. Regarding the parameters evoked by the Administrative Judge, it is intended to reflect on the delicate balancing procedure between rights and liberties that – equally guaranteed by the Constitution – inevitably collide as the aforementioned institute is enforced and that require, then, a particular care by the proceeding Public Administration: the private economic initiativ…

This chapter outlines Oman’s higher education policy under the guidance of Sultan Qaboos by addressing the following main objectives: describing the origins of Oman’s government-funded higher education system since the late 1970s, assessing the rationales of Oman’s fundamental redesign of its higher education policy since the early 1990s, and, finally, describing the process and the effects of the economic liberalization of higher education, by analysing the emerging models of cooperation providing cross-border educational services. Making conservation sustainable under unfavourable conditions : the case of Chimanimani National Reserve, Mozambique
2019
Based on a case study from the Chimanimani National Reserve in Mozambique, this article analyses to what extent different types of operational practices can contribute to the sustainability of protected areas in relatively unfavourable external conditions. While current conservation policies highlight community participation and market-based approaches, the same “best practices” are not equally valid under different conditions. Where unfavourable natural conditions, lack of infrastructure, difficult access and political instability limit the potential for upmarket ecotourism, actors should focus on community empowerment, diversification of livelihoods, and building joint conservation ideolo…

Leadership Effectiveness in Healthcare Settings: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Cross-Sectional and Before-After Studies
2022
To work efficiently in healthcare organizations and optimize resources, team members should agree with their leader’s decisions critically. Overall, the search strategies retrieved 3,155 records, and 21 of them were included in the meta-analysis. Two databases were used for manuscript research: PubMed and Scopus. On 16th December 2019 the researchers searched for articles published in the English language from 2015 to 2019. Considering the study des…

Multi-Stakeholder Initiatives and New Models of Co-Regulation in the Field of Business and Human Rights
2020
Since the late 1990s, a new paradigm of international cooperation, taking the form of a vast array of so-called ‘multi-stakeholder initiatives’ (MSIs), has increasingly gained importance in the field of business and human rights (B&HRs), where MSIs engage in the establishment and implementation of standards of conduct, reporting formats, and certification schemes, directed at helping companies to address the possible adverse human rights impacts of their activities. Although these developments have received increasing scholarly attention, there remains a great need for further in-depth inquiry about the nature and effects of this new model of co-regulation. In particular, what can be sa…
ABOUT THE IDENTITY AND OBJECTIVES OF TOURIST LAW
2019
This paper undertakes the considerations on the issues of the identity of law in tourism. Law in tourism is one of many disciplines that has a complex and comprehensive character. As in the financial law or the public procurement law, in the tourist law simple dichotomous divisions into private law, public law does not bring the expected results. In such cases, the justifications for distin-guishing the law in tourism and seeking criteria for independence and identity lie outside the disciplinary divisions. In case of law in tourism, the reference to the methodological criteria for justifyingits distinctiveness seems less convincing. One of the possible ways to demonstrate the distinctivene…
