According to Serbessa (2006) there is a tension between Western pedagogy, in particular child-centred learning, and traditional Ethiopian approaches to teaching. In this study, this tension is examined through the teaching methods used and the resources teachers have at their disposal. The teachers are herein viewed as curriculum leaders, contrasting with the preconception that managers are leaders of a curriculum (Hannay & Seller, 1991). Increases in productivity and the reallocation of employment towards more innovative sectors are defended as the panacea for most of the ills afflicting the Spanish economy. Me interesa ubicar estos libros en una época en la que es manifiesto el progresivo escepticismo que se produce en el autor desde Vista cansada (2008) en torno al mundo y a la pérdida de los valores democráticos por los que había luchado en los años ochenta.
