Fiber intake and all-cause mortality in the Prevención con Dieta Mediterránea (PREDIMED) study

2014

Background: Few observational studies have examined the effect of dietary fiber intake and fruit and vegetable consumption on total mortality and have reported inconsistent results. All of the studies have been conducted in the general population and typically used only a single assessment of diet. Objective: We investigated the association of fiber intake and whole-grain, fruit, and vegetable consumption with all-cause mortality in a Mediterranean cohort of elderly adults at high cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk by using repeated measurements of dietary information and taking into account the effect of a dietary intervention. Design: We followed up 7216 men (55-75 y old) and women (60-75 …

A kinetic model for the oxidation of benzenethiol catalyzed by the [MoVIO2(O2CC(S)(C6H5)2)2]2− complex intercalated in a Zn(II)–Al(III) layered doubl…

2009

Abstract The heterogeneous oxidation of benzenethiol catalyzed by the dianionic bis(2-sulfanyl-2,2-diphenylethanoxycarbonyl) dioxomolybdate (VI) complex intercalated into a Zn(II)–Al(III) layered double hydroxide (LDH) host have been investigated under aerobic conditions. The kinetics of the system has been analysed in detail. In ethanol, the benzenethiol is cleanly oxidized to diphenyl disulfide in the acidic media provided by the protonic resin Amberlite IR-120(H). The reaction is second-order in benzenethiol, and the apparent rate coefficient has been found to be proportional to the catalyst weight and inversely proportional to the initial concentration of the substrate. A catalytic cycl…

La riforma in Italia della legittima difesa. Cornice dogmatica e pulsioni politico-criminali

2009

Regularly Algebraizable Logics

2001

A sentential logic (S, C) is regularly algebraizable (alias 1-algebraizable) if it possesses a non-empty system E(p, q) of equivalence sentences such that E(p, q) ⊆ C(p, q).

Collection Principles in Dependent Type Theory

2002

We introduce logic-enriched intuitionistic type theories, that extend intuitionistic dependent type theories with primitive judgements to express logic. By adding type theoretic rules that correspond to the collection axiom schemes of the constructive set theory CZF we obtain a generalisation of the type theoretic interpretation of CZF. Suitable logic-enriched type theories allow also the study of reinterpretations of logic. We end the paper with an application to the double-negation interpretation.

Axiomatic characterization of the weighted solidarity values

2014

Abstract We define and characterize the class of all weighted solidarity values . Our first characterization employs the classical axioms determining the solidarity value (except symmetry ), that is, efficiency , additivity and the A-null player axiom , and two new axioms called proportionality and strong individual rationality . In our second axiomatization, the additivity and the A-null player axioms are replaced by a new axiom called average marginality .

Exploring the major depletions of conodont diversity during the Triassic

2014

International audience; In this paper, we show that the Triassic fossil record reflects just two great depletions of conodont diversity before the Rhaetian, which occurred in the Smithian (Olenekian, Early Triassic) and in the Julian (Carnian, Late Triassic). By exploring this context, our results highlighted that they respond to different origination?extinction dynamics. Thus, while the Smithian diversity depletion can be interpreted as a consequence of elevated extinction, the Julian diversity depletion was triggered by fluctuations in origination regime. This evidence suggests that, despite the role of extinction on diversity losses, conodonts suffered crucial changes on the origination …

Higher education in the fight against poverty from the capabilities approach: The case of Spain

2017

Abstract This article describes relative poverty in Spain in relation to the other States in the European Union, following the European indicator AROPE. The official data provided by the National Statistical Institute of Spain and by Eurostat, refer to the year 2014 (the last one for which definitive data are available is 2015). Given the relative poverty of Spanish population, the failure of conventional economic theories, which conceive social development as GDP growth, is clear, and it is argued in favour of the human capabilities approach as a more adequate option for development, from a theoretical-practical point of view, for the reduction and/or eradication of poverty, as well as the…
