Discriminating between technicolor and warped extra dimensional model viapp→ZZchannel

2009

We explore the possibility to discriminate between certain strongly coupled technicolor (TC) models and warped extra dimensional models where the standard model fields are propagating in the extra dimension. We consider a generic QCD-like TC model with running coupling as well as two TC models with walking dynamics. We argue that, due to the different production mechanisms for the lowest-lying composite tensor state in these TC theories compared to the first Kaluza-Klein graviton mode of the warped extra dimensional case, it is possible to distinguish between these models based on the angular analysis of the reconstructed longitudinal $Z$ bosons in the $pp\ensuremath{\rightarrow}ZZ\ensurema…

LHCb pentaquark as aD¯*Σc−D¯*Σc*molecular state

2015

We perform a theoretical analysis of the ${\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{b}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}J/\ensuremath{\psi}{K}^{\ensuremath{-}}p$ reaction from where a recent LHCb experiment extracts a $\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}(1405)$ contribution in the ${K}^{\ensuremath{-}}p$ spectrum close to threshold and two baryon states of hidden charm in the $J/\ensuremath{\psi}p$ spectrum. We recall that baryon states of this type have been theoretically predicted matching the mass, width and ${J}^{P}$ of the experiment; concretely some states built up from the $J/\ensuremath{\psi}N$, ${\overline{D}}^{*}{\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Lambda}}}_{c}$, ${\overline{D}}^{*}{\mathrm{\ensuremath{\Sigma}}}_{c}$, …

Constraints on doubly charged Higgs interactions at linear collider

1996

Production of a single doubly charged Higgs boson $Delta^{--}$ in polarized $e^+e^-$ and $e^+\gamma$ collision modes of the linear collider have been investigated. The mass range of $Delta^{--}$ to be probed extends up to the collision energy. The diagonal lepton number violating Yukawa coupling $h_{ee}$ will be tested at least three orders of magnitude more strictly than in present experiments.

Systematic study of the d=5 Weinberg operator at one-loop order

2012

We perform a systematic study of the $d=5$ Weinberg operator at the one-loop level. We identify three different categories of neutrino mass generation: (1) finite irreducible diagrams; (2) finite extensions of the usual seesaw mechanisms at one-loop and (3) divergent loop realizations of the seesaws. All radiative one-loop neutrino mass models must fall into one of these classes. Case (1) gives the leading contribution to neutrino mass naturally and a classic example of this class is the Zee model. We demonstrate that in order to prevent that a tree level contribution dominates in case (2), Majorana fermions running in the loop and an additional $\mathbb{Z}_2$ symmetry are needed for a genu…

Present Status of b → sℓ + ℓ − Anomalies

2017

Abstract We discuss the observed deviations in b → s l + l − processes from the Standard Model predictions and present global fits for the New Physics description of these anomalies. We further investigate the stability of the global fits under different theoretical assumptions and suggest strategies and a number of observables to clear up the source of the anomalies.

331 models and grand unification: From minimal SU(5) to minimal SU(6)

2016

We consider the possibility of grand unification of the $\mathrm{ SU(3)_c \otimes SU(3)_L \otimes U(1)_X}$ model in an SU(6) gauge unification group. Two possibilities arise. Unlike other conventional grand unified theories, in SU(6) one can embed the $\mathrm{ SU(3)_c \otimes SU(3)_L \otimes U(1)_X}$ model as a subgroup such that different multiplets appear with different multiplicities. Such a scenario may emerge from the flux breaking of the unified group in an E(6) F-theory GUT. This provides new ways of achieving gauge coupling unification in $\mathrm{ SU(3)_c \otimes SU(3)_L \otimes U(1)_X}$ models while providing the radiative origin of neutrino masses. Alternatively, a sequential va…

Role of theN*(1535)resonance and theπ−p→KYamplitudes in the OZI forbiddenπN→ϕNreaction

2008

We study the $\ensuremath{\pi}N\ensuremath{\rightarrow}\ensuremath{\phi}N$ reaction close to the $\ensuremath{\phi}N$ threshold within the chiral unitary approach, by combining the ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}p\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}^{+}{\ensuremath{\Sigma}}^{\ensuremath{-}},{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}p\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}^{0}{\ensuremath{\Sigma}}^{0}$, and ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}p\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{K}^{0}\ensuremath{\Lambda}$ amplitudes with the coupling of \ensuremath{\phi} to the $K$ components of the final states of these reactions via quantum loops. We obtain good agreement with experiment when the dominant ${\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{…

Muon capture by a proton in heavy baryon chiral perturbation theory

1997

The matrix element for muon capture by a proton is calculated to O(p^3) within heavy baryon chiral perturbation theory using the new O(p^3) Lagrangian of Ecker and Mojzis. External nucleon fields are renormalized using the appropriate definition of the wave function renormalization factor Z_N. Our expression for Z_N differs somewhat from that found in existing literature, but is the one which is consistent with the Lagrangian we use and the one which ensures, within our approach, the nonrenormalization of the vector coupling as required by the conserved vector current. Expressions for the standard muon capture form factors are derived and compared to experimental data and we determine three…

νd→μ−Δ++nreaction and axial vectorN−Δcoupling

1999

The reaction $\ensuremath{\nu}\stackrel{\ensuremath{\rightarrow}}{d}{\ensuremath{\mu}}^{\ensuremath{-}}{\ensuremath{\Delta}}^{++}n$ is studied in the region of low ${q}^{2}$ to investigate the effect of deuteron structure and width of the $\ensuremath{\Delta}$ resonance on the differential cross section. The results are used to extract the axial vector $N\ensuremath{-}\ensuremath{\Delta}$ coupling ${C}_{5}^{A}$ from the experimental data on this reaction. The possibility to determine this coupling from electroweak interaction experiments with high intensity electron accelerators is discussed.

Configuration mixing and total muon capture rates

1973

Abstract We modify the Primakoff closure approximation to get independence on the mean neutrino energy and energy weighted sum rules are used for the corrective terms. A near model - independent discussion is then possible, and the total rates are shown to be a very sensitive tool to investigate configuration mixing of the target. Wild discrepancies with experiment would arise if the limit of pure jj or LS couplings are used for 12 C, whereas the Cohen-Kurath wave function gives a very good result.
