Inverse procedural modeling of 3D models for virtual worlds
2016
This course presents a collection of state-of-the-art approaches for modeling and editing of 3D models for virtual worlds, simulations, and entertainment, in addition to real-world applications. The first contribution of this course is a coherent review of inverse procedural modeling (IPM) (i.e., proceduralization of provided 3D content). We describe different formulations of the problem as well as solutions based on those formulations. We show that although the IPM framework seems under-constrained, the state-of-the-art solutions actually use simple analogies to convert the problem into a set of fundamental computer science problems, which are then solved by corresponding algorithms or opt…
Kwalifikacja pisma procesowego jako apelacji lub wniosku o doręczenie wyroku z uzasadnieniem. Glosa do uchwały Sądu Najwyższego - Izba Pracy i Ubezpi…

The commented resolution of the Supreme Court concerns the classification of a pleading filed by an insured person, the content of which indicates that the person disagrees with a decision on the merits of the case, in the context of doubts as to whether the pleading constitutes an appeal or a request for the service of a judgment with a statement of reasons. The Supreme Court held that if this type of uncertainty arises, the court should take action to clarify the real intention of the party, i.e. summon the insured person, on pain of returning the pleading, to remedy the formal defect of failing to identify the type of pleading. This view has been justified with good arguments, in particu…
Voice and Culture: A Prospect Theory Approach
2014
The present study examines the congruence of individuals' minimum preferred amounts of voice with the prospect theory value function across nine countries. Accounting for previously ignored minimum preferred amounts of voice and actual voice amounts integral to testing the steepness of gain and loss functions explicated in prospect theory, we use curve fitting to show that ratings of procedural justice fit prospect theory's value function specifically. Further, we investigate the form of this function across nine countries that range in power distance. Results suggest that the form of the value function is congruent with prospect theory, showing an S-shaped curve that is steeper in the loss…
Procedural justice and democratic institutional design in health-care priority-setting
2013
Health-care goods are goods with peculiar properties, and where they are scarce, societies face potentially explosive distributional conflicts. Animated public and academic debates on the necessity and possible justice of limit-setting in health care have taken place in the last decades and have recently taken a turn toward procedural rather than substantial criteria for justice. This article argues that the most influential account of procedural justice in health-care rationing, presented by Daniels and Sabin, is indeterminate where concrete properties of rationing institutions are concerned. Such properties inscribe substantial norms into institutions. These norms can derive validity only…
Stato di diritto o stato di giustizia? Osservazioni critiche su un’alternativa troppo rigida
2004
Programming languages and dynamic instructional tools: Addressing students’ knowledge base
1992
The chapter presents an instructional computer environment to be used in introductory Pascal programming classes. Traditional programming courses do not foster the kind of knowledge structures that are the trademark of expert programmers. These knowledge structures or programming templates provide programmers with a ready-to-use library of routines from which they draw when writing a new program. Developed as a hypertext tool, TAP (Template Assisted Programming) is an instructional environment to teach programming that emphasizes the development and use of such a library of routines by presenting students with a multiple representation of programming knowledge. In TAP students can (a) switc…
Digital age and corporate taxation. European Union on the way to create a unilateral digital taxation regime
2019
The digitalization of the economy has rapidly changed the outlook of the business models today. It is no longer necessary for an entity to be located within a country to generate enormous amounts of revenues deriving from it. At the same time, the corporate taxation principles have not changed in order to adopt to this situation- when establishing the place of taxation they do not take into the consideration where the consumers are located. Thereby, an unfair treatment towards Member States has been created as today large revenues for big tech companies can be created within their territory without having a burden to pay a tax. Answering to the global discussion the European Commission has …
Do perceived justice and need support of the coach predict team identification and cohesion? Testing their relative importance among top volleyball a…
2011
Objectives: Based on findings in organizational psychology, the aim of the present study was to test the relevance of perceived justice and need support of the coach in team sports. Specifically, two studies examined their relation with athletes’ team identification and team cohesion. Design: Two cross-sectional, questionnaire studies conducted after a midseason game day. Methods: In study 1, Belgian top level female volleyball players (N ¼56; M ¼22.33) and male handball players (N ¼35; M ¼23.59) completed web-based questionnaires assessing athletes’ perceived justice and need support of the coach and their team identification and cohesion. In study 2, Norwegian top level female handball pl…
