A recent study on the Trajan's arch at Leptis Magna mentions a second arch of Tiberius, along a street which runs parallel to the main cardo, where the more famous “twin” of this arch is located. The study also mentions a structure, an arch as well, posed at the same place where the tetrapyle of Trajan was erected. These three arches mark the three vertices of a quadrilateral of streets involving the main places of the public consent through the Imperial House. Trudne historyczne wydarzenia związane z pojawieniem się reformacji na ziemi bralińsko-kępińskiej były przyczyną wielu cierpień i uprzedzeń. Kościoły katolicki i ewangelicki zwalczały się nawzajem, zamykały świątynie, wypędzały duchownych. Taki stan rzeczy istniał do doświadczenia klęski żywiołowej związanej z dwukrotnym całkowitym pożarem miasteczka Bralin w latach 1807 i 1808. To doświadczenie wspólnego cierpienia doprowadziło do zorganizowania przez ocalałych z pożarów wiernych Kościoła Rzymskokatolickiego i Ewangelicko-Augsburskiego procesji suplikacyjnej. Wspólna procesja suplikacyjna doprowadziła do pogodzenia się wiernych obu Kościołów i wspólnej odbudowy miasteczka. To doświadczenie…

Il saggio è dedicato al ruolo che ebbero le istituzioni ecclesiastiche - in particolare gli ordini religiosi - nel definire 'musicalmente' uno spazio urbano, quello della Palermo spagnola tra Cinque e Seicento, secondo la prospettiva della recente "Urban Musicology". Proponendo alcune ipotesi di interpretazione sul rapporto tra cerimonia, musica e contesto cittadino, il contributo prende in esame sia le cronache ufficiali che le fonti d'archivio, incentrandosi sulle processioni e su due particolari occasioni festive: il Corpus Domini e il festino di Santa Rosalia.

E' stato effettuato un monitoraggio della processionaria dei pini, Traumatocampa pityocampa (Denis et Schiffermüller), in tutta l'isola, con particolare attenzione alle aree presenti lungo il limite occidentale e meridionale dell'areale di distribuzione finora noto in Sicilia, al fine di registrare una sua eventuale espansione; tra il 2008 e il 2010, mediante il rilievo dei nidi invernali presenti sia nelle pinete che nelle aree residenziali, sono stati monitorati 209 quadranti UTM (che presentano 10 km di lato). Rule of the One: Avicenna, Bahmanyār, and al-Rāzī on the Argument from the Mubāḥathāt

Avicenna is a strong proponent of what some of the later ones call qāʻidat al-wāḥid or ‘rule of the one’ (RO). The gist of RO states: from the one only one directly proceeds. In the secondary literature, discussion of this Avicennian rule is usually limited to a particular application of it i.e., the issue of emanation. As result, it’s not really clear what RO means, nor why Avicenna endorsed it. In this paper, I try and remedy this situation by doing two things – one on the taṣawwur front, the other on the tasdīq.
