The 2012 campaign of the archaeological research project permitted the exhaustive excavations of the immediate surroundings of the southern nave of the abbey church of St Peter in Osor. The richness and the complexity of the discovered structures confirmed the great archaeological potential of this sector. Namely, a funeral zone that is situated south to the church is occupied by two buildings perpendicular to the church which we interpret as a mausoleum (the one on the west) and a chapel with one privileged burial (the one on the east). Splicing modulators (SMs) pladienolides, herboxidienes, and spliceostatins exert their antitumor activity by altering the ability of SF3B1 and PHF5A proteins, components of SF3b splicing factor, to recognize distinct intron branching point sequences, thus finely calibrating constitutive/alternative/aberrant splicing of pre-mRNA. Here, by exploiting structural information obtained from cryo-EM data, and by performing multiple μs-long all-atom simulations of SF3b in apo form and in complex with selected SMs, we disclose how these latter seep into the narrow slit at the SF3B1/PHF5A protein interface. An updated version of the computational package SIMPRE that uses the standard conventions for Stevens crystal field parameters

The crystal field approach used by SIMPRE is analyzed, verifying the exactness of the results concerning energy levels and magnetic properties calculated by the package. To coincide with the prevailing conventions, we reformulate the presentation of the crystal field parameters, so that the results are now, also from a formal point of view, strictly correct. New calculations are presented to test the influence of neglecting the excited J states, a common but critical approximation employed by SIMPRE. Determination of Zircaloy -4 Radiocristallographic Elastic Constants from Room Temperature to 300°C

A new experimental apparatus, allowing the determination of radiocristallographic elastic constants (REC) as a function of the temperature is presented. The material studied the zirconium alloy Zircaloy-4, showing low elastic anisotropy, an isotropic treatment of the problem is possible. As a consequence, the classical sin 2 ψ method is used to determine the REC from room temperature to 300°C.

‘Plastinates’ (i.e. corpses conserved through plastics) are lab created artifacts which since the nineties have been the subject of a cultural field experiment via an anatomical exhibition. Similarly to brain-dead or digitalized bodies, they constitute an ambiguous form of post-mortem existence. The article inquires after the ways in which the ontological status of these entities is constituted through the practices of body donors, anatomists and visitors. Plastinates owe their ambiguity to an oscillation between two different frames of perception. En los laberintos barrocos se consuma el placer perverso de la complejidad artificiosa, el gusto por una arquitectura virtual que metaforice las infinitas trayectorias de un universo inextricable. Uno de los signos tangibles de la crisis neobarocca que aparece en la poética de Borges se puede encontrar sin lugar a dudas en la presencia de las metáforas geométricas del laberinto. También Escher, a través de sus representaciones gráficas del inestable equilibrio que existe entre ilusión y desilusión, entre descifración y duda ontológica, entre figuras posibles e imposibles, termina por inscribirse plenamente en el ámbito de la crisis neobarroca.

Whilst early- and mid-fifteenth-century Italian humanism had concentrated on ambitious new translations from Greek into Latin, rather neglecting the vernacular, the sixteenth century is characterized by a proliferation of vernacular works in all fields and, especially from the 1530s on, intense activity in translating classical works into Italian.
