Tensorial Development of the Rovibronic Hamiltonian and Dipole Moment Operators for XY3Z Molecules with a Degenerate Electronic State. Preliminary Ap…
2009
Abstract We present a development of the Hamiltonian and transition moment operators of XY3Z ( C 3 v ) symmetric tops molecules in a degenerate electronic state with the aid of a tensorial formalism developed in a recent paper [A. El Hilali, V. Boudon, M. Loete, J. Mol. Spectrosc. 239 (2006) 41–50]. Electronic operators are defined from group theory properties. They provide a new approach to build an effective rovibronic Hamiltonian as well as an effective dipole moment operator for rovibronic transition of XY3Z molecules. This model is studied qualitatively thanks to the tensorial algebra properties. Expressions of the matrix elements are derived for these operators. A first simple applica…
Application of dictionary learning to denoise LIGO’s blip noise transients
2020
Data streams of gravitational-wave detectors are polluted by transient noise features, or ``glitches,'' of instrumental and environmental origin. In this work we investigate the use of total variation methods and learned dictionaries to mitigate the effect of those transients in the data. We focus on a specific type of transient, ``blip" glitches, as this is the most common type of glitch present in the LIGO detectors and their waveforms are easy to identify. We randomly select 100 blip glitches scattered in the data from advanced LIGO's O1 run, as provided by the citizen-science project Gravity Spy. Our results show that dictionary-learning methods are a valid approach to model and subtrac…
Isomers inPd128andPd126: Evidence for a Robust Shell Closure at the Neutron Magic Number 82 in Exotic Palladium Isotopes
2013
The level structures of the very neutron-rich nuclei $^{128}\mathrm{Pd}$ and $^{126}\mathrm{Pd}$ have been investigated for the first time. In the $r$-process waiting-point nucleus $^{128}\mathrm{Pd}$, a new isomer with a half-life of $5.8(8)\text{ }\text{ }\ensuremath{\mu}\mathrm{s}$ is proposed to have a spin and parity of ${8}^{+}$ and is associated with a maximally aligned configuration arising from the ${g}_{9/2}$ proton subshell with seniority $\ensuremath{\upsilon}=2$. For $^{126}\mathrm{Pd}$, two new isomers have been identified with half-lives of 0.33(4) and $0.44(3)\text{ }\text{ }\ensuremath{\mu}\mathrm{s}$. The yrast ${2}^{+}$ energy is much higher in $^{128}\mathrm{Pd}$ than in…

Use of Prandtl-Ishlinskii hysteresis operators for Coulomb friction modeling with presliding
2017
Prandtl-Ishlinskii stop-type hysteresis operators allow for modeling elasto-plasticity in the relative stress-strain coordinates including the saturation level of the residual constant-tension flow. This lies in direct equivalence to the force-displacement characteristics of nonlinear Coulomb friction, whose constant average value at unidirectional motion depends on the motion sign only, after the transient presliding phase at each motion reversal. In this work, we analyze and demonstrate the use of Prandtl-Ishlinskii operators for modeling the Coulomb friction with presliding phase. No viscous i.e. velocity-dependent component is considered at this stage, and the constant damping rate of t…
Comb-like Turing patterns embedded in Hopf oscillations: Spatially localized states outside the 2:1 frequency locked region
2017
A generic distinct mechanism for the emergence of spatially localized states embedded in an oscillatory background is demonstrated by using 2:1 frequency locking oscillatory system. The localization is of Turing type and appears in two space dimensions as a comb-like state in either $\pi$ phase shifted Hopf oscillations or inside a spiral core. Specifically, the localized states appear in absence of the well known flip-flop dynamics (associated with collapsed homoclinic snaking) that is known to arise in the vicinity of Hopf-Turing bifurcation in one space dimension. Derivation and analysis of three Hopf-Turing amplitude equations in two space dimensions reveals a local dynamics pinning mec…

Controlling spatial inhomogeneity in prototypical multiphase microstructures
2017
A wide variety of real random composites can be studied by means of prototypes of multiphase microstructures with a controllable spatial inhomogeneity. To create them, we propose a versatile model of randomly overlapping super-spheres of a given radius and deformed in their shape by the parameter p. With the help of the so-called decomposable entropic measure, a clear dependence of the phase inhomogeneity degree on the values of the parameter p is found. Thus, a leading trend in changes of the phase inhomogeneity can be forecast. It makes searching for possible structure/property relations easier. For the chosen values of p, examples of two and three-phase prototypical microstructures show …
Engineering Ising-XY spin models in a triangular lattice via tunable artificial gauge fields,
2013
Emulation of gauge fields for ultracold atoms provides access to a class of exotic states arising in strong magnetic fields. Here we report on the experimental realisation of tunable staggered gauge fields in a periodically driven triangular lattice. For maximal staggered magnetic fluxes, the doubly degenerate superfluid ground state breaks both a discrete Z2 (Ising) symmetry and a continuous U(1) symmetry. By measuring an Ising order parameter, we observe a thermally driven phase transition from an ordered antiferromagnetic to an unordered paramagnetic state and textbook-like magnetisation curves. Both the experimental and theoretical analysis of the coherence properties of the ultracold g…
