Diterpenoids from the roots and aerial parts of the genus Stachys
2011
The occurrence of diterpenoids from roots and aerial parts of the species of the genus Stachys (Lamiaceae, Labiatae) is reviewed. The presence of these diterpenoids in other taxa and their biological properties have been also reviewed
Evaluation of aging behavior under salt-fog spray conditions of green sandwich structures
2018
In this paper, the aging resistance of sandwich structures made with cork agglomerate as core and flax-reinforced polymeric laminates as face sheets was investigated for the first time. In order to evaluate their durability in a hostile environment, a sandwich plate was manufactured by vacuum bagging technique and aged under salt-fog spray conditions, according to ASTM B 117 standard. The evolution of the sandwich mechanical properties during the aging exposition was analyzed by carrying out quasi-static flexural tests and Charpy impact tests both on unaged specimens and on specimens aged for 10, 25, and 60 days, respectively. The quasi-static experimental results showed that despite the sa…
Effect of Stiffness on the Micellization Behavior of Model H4T4 Surfactant Chains
2006
The micellization behavior of a series of model surfactants, all with four head and tail groups (H4T4) but with different degrees of chain stiffness, was studied using grand canonical Monte Carlo simulations on a cubic lattice. The critical micelle concentration, micellar size, and thermodynamics of micellization were examined. In all cases investigated, the critical micelle concentration was found to increase with increasing temperature as observed for nonionic surfactants in apolar or slightly polar solvents. At a fixed reduced temperature and increasing chain stiffness, in agreement with previous observations, it was found that the critical micelle concentration decreased and the average…
Spectral properties and aggregation of ferrooctacarboxyphthalocyanine(II) in aqueous solutions
1996
Spectral properties of ferrooctacarboxyphthalocyanine(II) in aqueous solutions are discussed. A special attention is paid to aggregation in the presence of electrolytes. The influence of many factors (concentration, pH etc.) on forms of its occurence is presented.
Neural Activation During Submaximal Contractions Seems More Reflective of Neuromuscular Ageing than Maximal Voluntary Activation
2016
International audience; This study aimed at testing the hypothesis that differences in neural activation strategy during submaximal but not maximal plantarflexions exist between young and older men. Eleven young men (YM, 26 +/- 4 years) and thirteen old men (OM, 76 +/- 3 years) volunteered for the investigation. Maximal voluntary torque (MVT) was 38.2%, lower (p < 0.001) in OM than in YM, while voluntary activation was equivalent (similar to 97%). The relationship between the interpolated twitch torque and the voluntary torque (IT-VT relationship) was composite (curvilinear + exponential) for both age-groups. However, the OM showed accentuated concavity, as attested by the occurrence of the…
Gases in Agro-food Processes
2019
Gases in Agro-food Processes is the ultimate reference covering all applications of gases in agro-Food processes, from farm to fork. Divided into 11 sections, the book covers chemical and physical gas properties, gas monitoring, regulation, heat and mass transfers. Sections are dedicated to agriculture and food processing, wastewater treatment, safety applications and market trends. Users will find this to be a valuable resource for industrial scientists and researchers in technical centers who are developing agro-food products. In addition, the book is ideal for graduate students in agro-food science, chemistry and the biosciences.
Stubborn sets, frozen actions, and fair testing
2021
Many partial order methods use some special condition for ensuring that the analysis is not terminated prematurely. In the case of stubborn set methods for safety properties, implementation of the condition is usually based on recognizing the terminal strong components of the reduced state space and, if necessary, expanding the stubborn sets used in their roots. In an earlier study it was pointed out that if the system may execute a cycle consisting of only invisible actions and that cycle is concurrent with the rest of the system in a non-obvious way, then the method may be fooled to construct all states of the full parallel composition. This problem is solved in this study by a method tha…
SOME SPECTRAL PROPERTIES OF MULTIPLIERS ON SEMI-PRIME BANACH ALGEBRAS
1995
Abstract We extend to arbitrary semi-prime Banach algebras some results of spectral theory and Fredholm theory obtained in [1] and [2] for multipliers defined in commutative semi-simple Banach algebras.
The Effect of Electronic Properties of Anodized and Hard Anodized Ti and Ti6Al4V on Their Reactivity in Simulated Body Fluid
2022
The electronic properties of barrier and porous layers on Ti and Ti6Al4V were studied. Barrier anodic oxides grown to 40 V on Ti and on Ti6Al4V are both n-type semiconductors with a band gap of 3.3 eV and 3.4 eV respectively, in agreement with the formation of amorphous TiO2. Anodizing to 200 V at 20 mA cm−2 in calcium acetate and β-glycerol phosphate disodium pentahydrate leads to the formation of Ca and P containing porous films with a photoelectrochemical behaviour dependent on the metallic substrate. A band gap of 3.2 eV and the flat band potential of −0.5 V vs Ag/AgCl were measured for the porous oxide on Ti, while optical transitions at 2.15 eV and a significantly more positive flat b…
Characterization of Thin Passive Film-Electrolyte Junctions. The Amorphous Semiconductor (a-SC) Schottky Barrier Approach.
2017
A detailed study of the electronic properties of thin (< 20 nm) anodic TiO2 potentiostatically grown on titanium in two different solutions is presented. The results show that the nature of the anodizing solution affects the electronic properties of the anodic film and in particular the density of electronic state (DOS) distribution. Different DOS were derived from the experimental data analyzed according to the theory of amorphous semiconductor (a-SC) Schottky barrier. It is shown that the usual non-linear and frequency dependent Mott-Schottky plots are in agreement with expected theoretical behaviour of a-SC Schottky barrier. It is shown the importance of the DOS distribution in determini…
