Physico-chemical characterisation of a non-conventional food protein source from earthworms and sensory impact in arepas

International audience; This study aimed to characterise a non-conventional protein source: a powder made from earthworms, and to evaluate its potential use as human food. The way it was prepared led to low solubility and wide particle size distribution. Sensory analysis was used to assess the acceptability and the organoleptic properties of maize-based pan-cakes fortified with this novel protein powder. Satisfying products were obtained with a substitution level of 5.5% (w/w) earthworm powder in pan-cakes. Production of inclusive charmonia in pp collisions at center-of-mass energy of √ s = 13 TeV and p–Pb collisions at center-of-mass energy per nucleon pair of √ sNN = 8.16 TeV is studied as a function of charged-particle pseudorapidity density with ALICE. Ground and excited charmonium states (J/ψ, ψ(2S)) are measured from their dimuon decays in the interval of rapidity in the center-of-mass frame 2.5 < ycms < 4.0 for pp collisions, and 2.03 < ycms < 3.53 and −4.46 < ycms < −2.96 for p–Pb collisions. The purpose of this thesis is to study the automorphisms of right-angled Artin groups. Given a finite simplicial graph $\Gamma$, the right-angled Artin group $G_\Gamma$ associated to $\Gamma$ is the group defined by the presentation whose generators are the vertices of $\Gamma$, and whose relators are commutators of pairs of adjacent vertices. The first chapter is intended as a general introduction to the theory of right-angled Artin groups and their automorphisms. In a second chapter, we prove that every subnormal subgroup of $p$-power index in a right-angled Artin group is conjugacy $p$-separable. The influence of oxidized starch on the physicochemical properties of cast soy protein isolate films is determined in this study. Films were cast from heated (70 °C for 20 min) alkaline (pH=10) aqueous solutions of 7 % soy protein isolate containing 50 % (by mass) glycerol as a plasticizer and different levels of added oxidized starch (0, 5, 10, 15, and 20 %, by mass). Przedstawiono wyniki badań właściwości reologicznych wybranych gatunków polietylenów małej i dużej gęstości oraz otrzymanych z nich wosków. Na podstawie wyznaczonych dla nich zależności lepkości od temperatury wyznaczono energie aktywacji przepływu lepkiego tych polimerów. W celu wyjaśnienia zależności wyznaczonego parametru od właściwości tworzywa wykonano również analizy masy cząsteczkowej i dyspersyjności oraz struktury makrocząsteczek, głównie stopnia rozgałęzienia, zarówno polietylenów, jak i wosków. Uzyskane wyniki pozwoliły na ocenę właściwości przetwórczych wytypowanych tworzyw.
Underlying-event properties in pp and p–Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV

We report about the properties of the underlying event measured with ALICE at the LHC in pp and p–Pb collisions at √sNN = 5.02 TeV. The event activity, quantified by charged-particle number and summed-pT densities, is measured as a function of the leading-particle transverse momentum (ptrigT). These quantities are studied in three azimuthal-angle regions relative to the leading particle in the event: toward, away, and transverse. Results are presented for three different pT thresholds (0.15, 0.5 and 1 GeV/c) at mid-pseudorapidity (|η| 10 GeV/c, whereas for lower ptrigT values the event activity is slightly higher in p–Pb than in pp collisions. International audience; The response of photosynthetic activity to interannual rainfall variations in Africa South of the Sahara is examined using 20 years (1981-2000) of Normalised Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) AVHRR data. Linear correlations and regressions were computed between annual NDVI and annual rainfall at a 0.5° latitude/longitude resolution, based on two gridded precipitation datasets (Climate Prediction Center Merged Analysis of Precipitation [CMAP] and Climatic Research Unit [CRU]).
